If I can be serious for a minute... Is the unparalleled success of this thread and the heavy engagement in this story simply due to this being the most FUN wrestling backstage story in about 20 years? Yeah, if you're a fan of any of the wrestlers or personalities ensnared by the Ace Steel-like jaws of this drama, then you may be a little worried for their fates. If you're a hardcore fan of AEW then this is probably not what you wanted the story to be coming out of their big late summer show. But I think this ticks all the boxes for being the perfect blend of good-natured schadenfreude we've had in a LONG while. While we've had much larger stories in the past 20 years (hell, in the past MONTH), they usually have an element of sleaze, impropriety, or real-world politics that can't help but put a frown on our faces. Then there's always the "is it a work?" question, which can be a bucket of cold water poured on any good backstage disaster, but we basically worked out of our system by daybreak last Monday. So between the insanity of Punk's rant, the totemic props that have become shorthand comedic signatures, and the layers upon layers of fallout that resulted? I don't know if we'll ever see this perfect balance of innocuous intrigue and outright comedy ever again. Screenwriting classes and improv troupes will be studying this for years to come. It really is the perfect story. Big name wrestlers doing something monumental and shocking, but without anyone dying, getting (seriously) hurt, any sexual abuse, or any of the other horrible things that usually happen in pro wrestling. It's not going to change wrestling and be debated about in the same way the Montreal Screwjob is, but it shares a lot of similarities.

Ryan Frederick on the Wrestling Observer message board that current AEW EVPs Young Bucks sent out feelers within the company to gauge possible interest whenever their contracts are up. This has been an ongoing rumor among sources Fightful has spoken to dating back to August. One source indicated that they've been sworn that the Bucks asked to speak to someone in management, which we've been unable to confirm, but the rumor has persisted within WWE for several weeks.
Sources close to the Young Bucks say that they haven't been given that indication whatsoever. That person would likely be in a good position to relay that information, but says they aren't sure who the Young Bucks would even reach out to in that regard.
It's worth noting that we'd heard people who worked in talent relations had outright reached out to AEW talent last month.
Another source that has long worked with higher ups confirmed they'd heard the rumor, but hadn't asked people of influence within WWE, because they weren't sure how that would be received. However, they were there in 2018, and were quick to remind us that the Young Bucks nearly signed with WWE then before helping start All Elite Wrestling. That person believes that they wouldn't even need to gauge interest about coming into the company, and would likely be taking the temperature on other situations related to possible free agency.
We were given no indication prior to AEW All Out that the Young Bucks wanted out of AEW. Since then, talk of that has remained quiet for obvious reasons regardless. We'll be asking more about this among people backstage in the company today at Raw
From Fightful for those wondering

Yep, I think you nail it. At the end of the day, this is a significant news story that doesn't really have anything overwhelmingly "sad" about it. There's no scary or depressing real world repurcussions from it. Add in the fact that it's absolutely hilarious and meme-able and it's the perfect storm for some earnest and quality engagement.

I can't believe Punk made a play for locker room leader, and ended up as Locker Room Missing Stair

I finally started checking out their albums this year. Late as hell on my part "Black Sunday" is one of my absolute favorite albums ever. I wanna get hiiiiiiigh soooooo high. Classic album. Cock the Hammer, that’s one of my favorite Cypress tracks and one of their most overlooked. And it’s filled with great deep cuts like that. Plus I’m pretty sure he says punk 4 or 5 times on that song.

I do wonder how Mindy’s feels about becoming a household name on account of some doofus having a breakdown at a press conference while promoting their stuff. Read a joke five star review saying they would’ve given them six stars if they were in the Tokyo Dome which got a good laugh out of me.

Yeah but what have Hulk Hogan and Vince Russo said about what they witnessed firsthand at the scrum?

I hope the demand is such that they’re set for life. And if I’m ever in the Chicago area, you better believe I’m going to gobble it like a bloody, spiteful goblin.

I'm chuckling at the All Out main event recap on Dynamite last week pretending CM Punk didn't exist and MJF just showed up just because.

I had a dream where viscera went around eating people back in the attitude era until kurt angle showed up and shot a f***ing laser through him.
I didn't sleep well for months.

I genuinely have no clue what the hell that promo was about. It feels like Page exists in like a completely different storyline from the rest of the show and I have no idea what point he was trying to make. Looking forward to the match but it's a very strange, clumsy build. Well that explains it I guess.

Saw them back in June with Slipknot and Ho99o9. All three were amazing to see live.

Never thought I’d agree with Jim Cornette on anything when it comes to modern wrestling. Yet here I am.

Punk has come off like a condescended dickhead the whole feud, much as he did in the Eddie Kingston feud. I certainly hope they're leading to a heel turn, because otherwise, he's just a jackoff. spoilers {Spoiler}
