I laughed at it. But man that match was no good. Lol For real lol, like Colt’s a nice dude and I’m glad he’s on tv againand Punk was a freaking psychopath about everything..but that match kinda shows why he’s not wrestling on national tv every week anymore.

To be fair his only championships were with Punk in ROH...Again I don't really care as much about him being used and over-glamourized due to all of this it's just simply that it wasn't believable that he was chosen for any other reason than the drama. Aren't you both right? Colt being chosen for this spot and getting the pop that he did is directly related to his part in the drama. But, he's only involved at all because CM Punk is offended by his existence and was happy to try and derail a whole company to point that out. I'm not even arguing that it wasn't intentional. I'm just saying that the notion that Colt couldn't have been in that spot on his own merits is bunk.

Yeah it was petty by AEW. So what? I won't be crying any tears for Punk over it. I expect more than pettiness from a million/billion dollar company. I thought WWE was bad when it came to that, guess AEW isn’t that different. If the pettiness is just literally booking Colt Cabana to wrestle a match, then please explain how that can be an affront to Punk without also admitting that Punk did not want Cabana on TV at all.

I still think that Colt was the one that screwed up on the WWE Lawsuit and that's why Punk went scorched earth cutting ties and trying to counter sue but after the Scrum and all that psycho rant about something that he "didn't care", I'm happy to see Colt Cabana on TV

But yeh I remember at the time Punk seemed in the right but over time Cabana was clearly the more mature one.

Colt's still a really good wrestler, and this match does not mean he's washed or done Like did everyone just ignore the tape on his shoulder? Probably played a part but he worked through it because the match is a big deal. Colt's 42, he's not a spring chicken anymore, but acting like a wrestler is just cooked at 42 in this day and age is a bit baffling Wasn't his greatest match but I thought he got the job done.

Some wrestling fans (and the internet generally) need to learn how to have perspective. Some of the posts here and Twitter are so weird.
It’d be like if I was fully convinced that because I don’t like Adam Cole very much, that no one did, despite watching him continually get huge reactions and booked strongly. Like, my opinion doesn’t shape reality. Nor does anyone else’s.
Sorry, probably a weird post but, the reactions to Colt I’m seeing are way weirder.

Personally, I think it would have been funny if his graphic said like “has bank account with mother” but that’s because I’m prettier than AEW. "Pretty" Khali Avalon? PRETTY KHALI!! FABULOUS IS HE!! KHALI ABABWA!!!

Nah, not a weird post, it's a point that I wish were more beaten into the ground in wrestling discussions. Personal preference is not the same thing as overness or objective quality, and that's fine. It's really annoying when the three things get conflated. Like, as an example, a lot of people act like QT Marshall gets sheer apathy, when he's massively over and him getting his ass kicked is audibly a big crowd pleaser. Anyone who's apathetic to him or who doesn't like him should very much get to say so, but it's silly to then extrapolate that into saying he isn't over.

Wish we could pin this on the top of the board, tbh I feel like we get far too many matter of fact posts here lately where "This wrestler sucks, therefore he is just factually terrible" or "That segment was a disaster, how did anyone actually enjoy it?", stuff like this which makes conversations kinda hit a wall It's one of those things that always needs to be taken into consideration, and when it comes to posts about Colt "Being washed" because of one singular match, and sure it's fine to say the match wasn't good if you didn't like it, but when we've had people say "I saw Colt wrestle a month ago and he looked great at the Mall of America show", it should probably give people some pause that maybe it was just a sloppy match and those things happen, then bringing Colt around the back of the barn to shoot him or something...

The biggest example of this on this particular forum is Jay Lethal. Like, yeah, he's been around forever and is sort of bland, but he's a solid wrestler, usually has good matches, and is being used appropriately as a midcarder. Here, you would think he was Triple H in the middle of the reign of terror or something with the reactions he gets.

Every time the crowd cheers for Lethal and consistently splits crowds in his matches like this week with Darby, I really think the juxtaposition of FAN treating him like he is literal apathy satan is just really hilarious It's not like FAN isn't valid for hating the guy, but the takes that he "Brings down every segment he's in" when the crowds and ratings constantly prove otherwise, just highlights how niche FAN's even greatest opinions really can be in the world of wrestling.
