Personally, I don't care what the wider audience thinks of a wrestler. I only care about what I think of a wrestler. That said, I'm willing to hold my hands up and admit when my tastes don't align with the masses. I've never been a fan of Adam Cole, but I won't deny he's over. Maybe it's the sound levels on my TV (which admittedly, have been a bit whack for Fite lately), but I'm not quite sure where the idea of Lethal getting big reactions is coming from. I feel the same about the previously mentioned Lethal and QT...They get "reactions" but the idea that they are big anywhere outside of that arena is laughable to me. The AEW crowd a lot like the NXT crowd has a tendency to be active for everything which I think tends to gray the waters a bit from a perception standpoint.

I didn't think the match was that bad, to be honest. Perfectly watchable, imo.

I don’t have any issue at all with people disliking Lethal for any reason. Opinions are subjective and I respect what everyone thinks, especially regarding something as, ultimately, silly as wrestling. I was more just commenting on the fact that I’m relatively new to this forum and, from what I’ve personally seen, Jay Lethal is disproportionately disliked around here versus the wider wrestling audience. Nothing wrong with what you said at all, and you're absolutely right lol When FAN hates someone, they HATE someone, and it's relentless. As I said, and it's calmed down now that she herself has slid down the card, but World Champion Britt Baker was getting 20 page threads here a week... I still feel that sometimes there's a vibe of "You're a BAD PERSON if you don't hate the same people most of FAN does" that works its way into discussions, under the surface, honestly. Which might be odd I guess, me of all people saying that in the Punk thread when I've been the biggest Punk hater (and I still don't like him) on this board for as long as I've been here, but...

The weird thing about the Jay Lethal pushback here is that like, there's lots of personal dislike of Lethal, lots of memeing on him being overly represented on the show, lots of rumbling about the sexual harassment allegations that were clearly nto a huge story on a wide scale because people constantly ask what's up with that. But I don't really see lots of people going like "Nobody likes the dude, he has no value ever, not one living human being wants to see him on television" but that always seems to be how the pushback is framed. A bunch of people on this board disagreeing with some broader consensus opinion on the guy externally has no bearing on what anyone thinks, and I don't ever see Jay Lethal discussion veering in a direction that justifies how much weird pushback ripping on him gets when the hate is so benign.
Also it's this much sticking-your-neck-out for Jay Lethal. People realize that, right? That like you're putting their flag down to be like "you guys are unfair to the boring handspring man". Go fight against the people who say ugly body shaming shit about Adam Cole or something.

On average, Lethal is getting about the reactions I'd expect out of a midcard heel. Which is what he is right now. I don't think anyone is saying he's getting monster pops, but he's no Rob Conway either.
He probably got a stronger reaction last night because Baltimore is hardcore ROH country.

Allie I say this with nothing but care, but please take a step back. You project a lot of intention and hidden meaning into posts and it is deeply unhealthy for you. Nobody thinks you're a bad person if you don't loudly hate Jay Lethal. Not one. I don't like to speak for everyone but I will do that here because that is not happening, and I think that you have deeper issues that you need to work through that run a lot deeper than this. I'm not even saying you're bad for feeling this way, because I get the impression you have been hurt and wrongly mistreated in ways before that have made you this paranoid and nervous around conversations, and I can't fault you for trauma. But the degree of projection that puts you even more on edge and more certain you're one step away from the entire forum turning on you or something makes it really unhealthy. I say this, again, with only care and genuine concern; this is me being worried about the patterns you've been showing for years that are making your time on here significantly less enjoyable for you.

There's aspects of Jay Lethal that I like. I like his theme, I like the Lethal Injection, and his matches have fun spots.
But dude's presence on-screen otherwise does nothing for me. I wouldn't say he's bad, he's just kind of there. He's like that pink slime stuff; filler to give someone something to do.

I hope it was a petty "f*** you" move to Punk. I kinda doubt it was, but still, if it got him irate good. f*** him.

Oh, trust me, this wasn't about Lethal (or any one particular wrestler at all, really). I've never really cared one way or the other about him. The rest of it, fair enough.

I didn't think the match was that bad, to be honest. Perfectly watchable, imo. I agree. If it were a pay per view match, maybe I'd feel a little differently, but it was a perfectly serviceable TV match.

Just since Lethal is being talked about. I can take him or leave him, like as a mid card guy who occansionally gets a big win to keep him heated I can live with. I do think he’s the least interesting personality of his group but I usually do enjoy his matches well enough
Add me to the list of people who loved Darby bouncing off Satnam. That was great
As for Colt? Whether it was to intentionally p*** off Punk or a happy by-product. Either way I’m happy he was back on TV and I marked big time. I don’t think it was the worlds greatest match but it wasn’t a disaster. Was fine for what it was

I'm still trying to wrap my head around people thinking it was petty. Colt is employed, fits into the storyline, and lost.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around people thinking it was petty. Colt is employed, fits into the storyline, and lost. Even if it was with the intention of being petty, I feel like we've got to grade pettiness on a scale. Like, how far out of your way do you have to go to do the petty thing? How much do you need to actively do something counter-productive or even harmful to ourself just to achieve your petty gesture? Is the thing you're doing to be petty in any way worse or more damaging to its target than what they did to aggrieve you in the first place? And I feel like on literally any of those fronts, the realistic answer isn't really a high rating on any of those scales. They didn't need to do anything to get a guy on the payroll to show up to work. They didn't hurt their show at all by having Colt be on it. Punk committed assault on his bosses and turned a media presentation upside-down, Colt was just paid to do a wrestle. Every step of it is so tame

Anyway if FTR have turned on Punk now then that's really all there was left to the situation. Dude's Civil War Bret Hart Re-Enactor friends won't talk to him anymore.
