As someone who has had to take multiple classes and trainings on workplace conflicts, it's worth noting that bringing a neutral third party with you as a mediator to a dispute with a coworker is absolutely a thing you'd do. And especially with the Elite holding positions of power, bringing in legal is like, the move. I'm not seeing at all how The Elite were out of line in handling this. Also those trainings were just yearly requirements, I'm not like, a deviant at work or something, lol. This. I've dealt with interpersonal conflict situations at work where the he-said she-said was so bad that one of the parties straight up refused to be alone in a room with the other party without a third witness, precisely as a guard against unwarranted yet unproveable accusations. It's the same reason in healthcare that neutral chaperones are a thing when examining patients in certain contexts or sensitive situations. It's been said in this thread numerous times, but man, in addition to shining a spotlight on all the intractable Punk stans out there, it's also doing a damn good job of showing off who's never actually had to deal with a professional workplace. To be fair, for the average wrestler, beyond retail, wrestling is the only major industry that they worked for and it isn't exactly working as an accountant or IT or salesperson for a major company with a dedicated Human Resource. In fact, a lot of problems with the wrestling industry in general is that most did not learn proper workplace and professional etiquette. The average owner of a Fortune company would not put up with what happened in the media scrum or even let it happen in the first place. Hell, in most companies, posting controversial things on social media is a fireable offense. |

It plays into their hands to get into a physical confrontation in front of the company lawyer, because... reasons, I guess, I don't know what the f*** the possible justification is for this one. Being charitable. They knew Punk would cause a fight... somehow and wanted a neutral witness for that was part of a chess game to get rid of him. Why even then, it's still their fault rather than Punk's for him causing all this instead of, I dunno, talking to them. I got nothing. I don’t back Punk on any of this (because it’s clear he’s been an idiot) but I can’t help but think the smartest thing the Elite could have done was not even attempt to talk to a clearly deranged man, high on adrenaline and muffins. Them bringin in the lawyer was a dead giveaway they knew there would be verbal and physical implications. Actually they were going for it and they counted on it which makes their decision to gang up on Punk even worse from EVP standpoint. They certainly didn't go in to discuss Cabana comments with Punk but to discuss Punk putting them into his mouth. It was a immature showdown. I think we reached a point of mental gymnastics worth of winning Olympic gold WITH A BROKEN FREAKIN' NECK!!!! |

After doing similarly and getting off scot free. In 20/20 hindsight, yeah time would have been good, but in the moment you can see why they'd want to talk to the guy who literally told them to do just that. He was angry, but you wouldn't expect him to start a fight, heated words sure but that's it, bringing the head of legal so everything that goes on is 100% above board, we can't get any he said/she said... ironically. |
