A lot of it also depends on how they negotiate the contract buyout on top of the injury. Yeah I’m sure they are gonna put a fat no compete on it. I can’t see him in wwe till 2024 |

I think we’re forgetting the matter of the torn tricep. That’s a long term injury, isn’t it? I’d have figured that any pie-in-the-sky WrestleMania fantasy booking was off the table for that alone. And really, I don’t really want that Austin v Punk match anymore. Like, it’s based entirely on a “Guy that drinks a lot of alcohol vs guy that doesn’t drink any alcohol” thing that just smacks of the kind of elitist mindset that Punk has spent most of his life embracing. If it was SES Punk (which along with the Jeff Hardy feud, was the best shit Punk did in WWE, anyone who reduces him to the Pipe Bomb clearly wasn't watching Smackdown in 2009), maybe, but he wasn't as big a deal then. But yeah, I was hearing for 8-9 months he would be unable to work a match anyway, so from September... that puts recovery barring any complications, into summer 2023. Even if TK just cuts him loose before then and WWE is willing to do business with him, you wouldn't even get him for the Raw after Wrestlemania, because the expectation then is he works the next big event they have. Maybe Summerslam would be a good bet. Anyway, what I have realised in the last couple of months, is that "I'm hurt and I'm old, and I'm f***in' tired, and I work with f***in' children" is the most relateable thing Punk or any wrestler has ever actually said. |

I just assume Sammy gets the upper hand in most of life because people think he's cute. I mean he is, but in my head canon that's the reason he gets things. Jobs, repeat second chances, women, constant pushes etc.... |

Honestly if Punk still has the wrestling bug like they claim and if Stone Cold is open to doing more matches like it is also claimed, I expect to see this match actually happen. Not at WrestleMania next year because of Punks injury would not be healed in time, but I can see it happening at say SummerSlam next year or most likely WrestleMania 40. Why would Stone Cold lower himself to wrestling Cm Punk? Why wouldn't he wrestle Punk? I mean even early this year there was a lot of disbelief of Stone Cold wrestling because the attitude was "why would Stone Cold wrestle KO of all people when there are bigger money matches" and yet he did wrestle KO. In Punks and Austin's case, they seem to be good friends or at the very least have a major amount of respect for each other and regardless of what any of us think of Punk, Punk vs Stone Cold is a big money match that can certainly headline a ppv. While that would be a dream match, I feel like the match that he had with KO was the perfect sendoff for him. An Attitude Era-esque brawl at Wrestlemania in his home state of Texas. |

Yeah I certainly get that and really even Rock vs Stone Cold at WrestleMania 19 was a fantastic send off for Stone Cold. I guess though Stone Cold might have caught the bug for wrestling again and probably wants to get some matches in for the time he felt he was robbed off and now that he knows he can actually do it, he wants to get some in. Truthfully I kind of hope he does wrestle some more matches like they claim because I am going to WrestleMania 40 and would love to see him on the program. |
