Omega and TYBs are the three most famous North Americans never to have a televised WWE match. All three are in the autumn of their careers and it looked like it would never happen, if they leave because of Punk it’ll be Shakespearean in its comi-tragedy.
I think it’s a little worky they are leading to a Punk & FTR v Elite AEW civil war storyline but Punk conducted himself so poorly it’s turned into a shoot and probably won’t happen now. Shades of HBK blowing the KOTR match with Bret by making the “Sunny days” comment.

Things will be better in 2.5 years when HHH buries the everloving f*** out of Cody for not being over Cody breaking his dumb throne 5+ years ago by having Roman embarrass Cody to the point of going back to AEW where Cody can restore some semblance of balance to the locker room after Punk quits after winning a 900 man gauntlet pinning everyone
(this is mostly a joke but I could also see it happening)

And it shouldn’t go understated how good Cody is at the media game. They lost their star in that regard In general Cody picked like the exact strategically perfect time to get the hell out of there because 1), he went to WWE at a time they absolutely needed someone like him, and 2), with the timing it reads like he either knew everything was about to go to hell or like he was the only person keeping it from doing so. Sure, but he also wanted to be a top face and after his own handling of the Ogogo feud he was never gone to be a pure face in AEW anymore unless he acknowledged his heel tendencies first. So he made the right decision for his own sanity and his character, because he himself is responsible for how torched his character was as a face.

It makes for interesting talk on here but it does not make for interesting TV It makes me want to stop watching for a little while, and I've really enjoyed AEW since I've become a regular viewer. Yeah, I was looking at Grand Slam resale tickets, but I'm considering dropping it altogether cause I don't see the point in wondering what the f*** is going on 24/7 leading up to it.

This forum has been handling this relatively well overall, but just as a reminder, you can feel that WWE's treatment of Punk was wrong while also coming to realize that he has always been a massive asshole and everyone might've been better off if he stayed retired. Shit, I'd argue he had some fair reasons to be angry here. He explained his side then proceeded to shit on Colt over and over and over again despite the topic being done and over with. Then complained about certain people leaking intel to just leak more himself. Like, bruh. "Okay fair enough reason to be angry and oh... he's still going... now he's dragging people into the mud with him... and oh God, he's STILL going. f*** just stop. Someone stop him." Straight up asshole behavior just washed away what fair points he had.

I watched the entire thing just to get a full idea of what the hell is going on… the only two positives I can come up with…
1) Those muffins looked amazing and will get some next time I’m in Chicago. (Closed Monday and Tuesday.)
2) Hell yes for Danhausen giving Punk his boots. Say what you will about Punk him and Danhausen’s friendship is f***ing adorable.

Straight up asshole behavior just washed away what fair points he had. Yeah, him implying that (well...more like outright accusing) the EVPs are leaking stories about people's jobs being on the line is something that firmly puts him in the wrong category. Punk confirmed half of the stories that would've had no juice if he just kept his mouth shut. He's given everyone he doesn't want talking to him about this more questions to ask. It's supremely counterproductive.

I can't remember how much overlap, if any, there was between him leaving and Punk coming in. Makes me wonder if he knew Punk's schtick was eventually going to turn toxic, and that played a part in not wanting to be there when it does. I had to steal this from someone on squaredcircle cuz it’s hilarious: TK: Look at this Cody, I'm signing CM Punk! Inside Cody's Mind: Air Raid Sirens and flashing red lights

It's extremely difficult for me to not think there's an element of working here.. I don't for 1 minute buy that AEW went from a perfectly fine locker room to chaos in the snap of a finger, especially after a talent meeting.I think Tony saw the constant complaining that his show had no surprises and was predictable and has swung the other way to an extreme. I also buy into Punk really enjoying playing the dick role and going after Omega and the Bucks is an easy way to do that.. It took a lot longer than a minute. This is stuff that's been brewing for a long time. Cody was probably somebody that could stamp out the shit before it exploded. He left, and Omega wasn't there to be another leader, you don't have the hierarchy for a long time where guys could vent their issues. It builds and builds till something like catering running out of Doritos is the thing that causes everything to go off.

The infamous podcast was November 2014.
