as I said in the other thread it's an obvious work that just didn't land with people. and no, this isn't going to kill AEW so just stow that doomer nonsense before it even gets started. Not everyone is spelling the end for the company... But that doesn't mean that we can't criticize Tony and Punk for what happened tonight. And what's so "obvious" about it? I mean how could it not be? he's standing right next to the owner of the company talking shit about literally everyone in a way that's clearly meant to piss off fans. I think people just hate Punk so much they insist on being "right" about the guy even when it's obvious he's taking the piss. |

Damn.
I hope this isn't a work because it's a f***ing stupid one if it is. I said in the All Out live thread that Punk has been my guy since ROH, despite how much of an asshole he is, but I think that even I'm done with him after this.
Maybe he has reasons to be pissed at Colt, Hangman, Kenny, and the Bucks but you don't air your grievances in this way. If its a straight choice between the Elite and Punk, if I'm Tony Khan I'm picking the Elite. They're far more important to AEW, its heart, and its vibe than Punk ever could be.

Disagree. He still got cheers. Read this forum people are angry and done with him. Usually when someone is "done" with a wrestler, they don't buy a ticket to see them again. There's a difference between not liking the wrestler and not liking the human. If I don't like the human, I won't support them in any way. If this is the best they can do to generate a heel CM Punk, then AEW is in serious trouble. |

If it is real, and who really cares, it's stupid either way; here is what I say. Stop complaining about tyrants like Vince McMahon who control every aspect of pro wrestling if you can't prove that you can be professionals without someone controlling everything; and that goes from the owner down.

They stream it live after every PPV. Them KEEPING IT UP is another story I mean...lets be honest at this point. AEW management has incredibly poor PR instincts at this point. Especially Tony, if you've see how he acts on Twitter (this isn't unique to AEW either, he does this with the Jags and Fulham as well). They desperately need to hire an actual PR firm at this point, and a publicist for Tony. I would go as far to say that the only other wrestling company that has a worse PR department than AEW is the English STARDOM account. Eh I dunno, at least with Stardom English account it’s bad but you know it’s just run by one guy the company doesn’t really watch over in Sonny who goes off the handle and they aren’t very much concerned with English PR. AEW should have the sources for a whole dedicated social media/PR team to do double checking and damage control and it seems like it’s not even addressed. I'd put the expectation level for both as way different. |
