Also I just remembered in something that doesn't at all pertain to current discussion, IIRC there was some chatter about like "Punk only started pushing for the world title in spring 2022" like dude I saw that guy with my own eyes do the belt gesture at Full Gear before Hangman even won the title it was on his mind for a long while lmao

Still not over the idea that Punk feared Hangman was going to shoot on him. Like that's the claim. The gate was jeopardized because Punk believed that Hangman would attempt to shoot on him during their match and he had to be talked down from it. And it's another one of those cases where I sincerely, no joke, no irony, no bit, no sarcasm, hope that Punk is lying through his teeth to save face on that one, because if he genuinely believed that Hangman was going to beat the shit out of him then the guy needs serious actual help because his paranoia is through the roof. My thing with that is that if he did think Hangman was gonna shoot on him, why further antagonize him after it didn't happen? It's like instead of realising he was just being paranoid, he doubled-down on the anger. Maybe he was pissed he didn't shoot on him because he doesn't like being wrong? It’s best to try and not psychoanalyze Phil. Imagine how exhausting it must be for him to live it.

You know what kills my few remaining braincells is Punk slamming Hangman for jeopardizing a million dollar gate going into business for himself; The statement fundamentally holds up to no scrutiny and it legitimately causes me sleep trying to think from what angle Punk felt that was a 'gotcha' on Page. The only way that gate is jeopardized is if Punk doesn't show up and I daresay it ain't on Hangman at that stage. Still not over the idea that Punk feared Hangman was going to shoot on him. Like that's the claim. The gate was jeopardized because Punk believed that Hangman would attempt to shoot on him during their match and he had to be talked down from it. Aye, like it'd be a stretch if it pretty much any wrestler, but it is especially egregious given this is f***ing Hangman we're talking about.

Sorry if this has been discussed already but it’s 641 pages, but is it true that ace steels wife who would be a very important person to the whole incident in the locker room wasn’t interviewed during the investigation ? IF that is true that’s a bad look, because she would be someone who could speak to what happened in a way that many others couldn’t.

Why would they interview her? It's not a criminal investigation and she wouldn't be adding anything new

It's probably because Ace Steel's wife would be heavily biased in his favor and also not an AEW employee at the time. Other people in the locker room were more impartial.

Yeah, it's not a great look necessarily and I would've interviewed her for the optics more than anything but if your only goal is to fully understand what happened, you need to talk to the impartial folks there. Anyone with strong ties to either party offer little value to that end.

Well maybe she might add details that don’t reflect well on the EVPs and that’s why she wasn’t interviewed. The optics look terrible btw that they didn’t interview her.

I’m guessing that since an AEW lawyer was present that they didn’t feel the need to do exhaustive interviews with everyone involved. Assuming that they didn’t interview her or anyone else.

Spouses are often considered unreliable witnesses and that's why they're not called on. On the flipside, they usually can't be compelled to testify against their spouses in criminal matters.
Is it bad for optics? It might be some ammo for the pro-Punk crowd to use while selectively ignoring everything else. But it's standard operating procedure.

It seems they interviewed everyone that worked there that watched or was involved in some sort of way ( Christopher Daniels, Brandon Cutler, the legal representative, MJF saw the whole thing apparently) , Meltzer implied the wife wasnt interviewed because she didnt work there. I feel like at most the only reason you would interview her is to check if her story matches Punk & Ace and even that is a stretch
