Self-inflicted? I must have missed the bit where they bit themselves and threw chairs at themselves. It's like playing in traffic and complaining when you get hit by a car...Punk in all his stupidity told them to come find them and they chose to do so. I would imagine the fight doesn't take place if they wait until the next day. But they *had* to see him - with the head of legal and HR - that night or else he would have continued slandering and libeling them across his massive social media reach. There's nothing wrong with confronting him that night and they did it in the most professional way possible.

The Elite were there, backstage, we know that much

haha yeah guess it's just wild for me considering this was all self inflicted and it isn't like they are returning from injury or anything. After 600 pages though I am just reiterating the heavily bashed minority...still just odd when analyzed. Ah, yes. It was the Elite who started this. They must have used their Bruce Almighty powers to make Punk say what he said at the media scrum. I heard a rumour that the real reason Punk has been away was because he started to have a projectile nosebleed and then his head burst into flames. We didn't get to see it though.

I have never seen HR round up a posse (that includes all of the targeted people) outside of HR before going to speak to a disgruntled employee.

Like I am not trying to intentionally piss anyone off here...same team even if I don't sometimes seem like it but I still think there is merit on the fact that this whole situation is a weighing of two evils (one side obviously more obtuse than the other) and that a lot of this could have been prevented without the need to justify so many peculiar actions.

The Elite, who got punished for what they did with several months off television and with their newly given titles stripped, did not get a 'slap on the wrist', but they were also by all accounts the victims of an actual crime so the victim blaming step is real ugly. I don't think it's difficult to see why people would lay their sympathies with the dudes who got assaulted. Doesn't really matter if they "should have known" they were going to be assaulted when they didn't necessarily do anything to justify being assaulted. They received their punishment for their role in this situation and it seems like really unnecessary both sides-ing to act like they got a slap on the wrist.

Like what, for example? I’m curious. CM Punk commentating for an MMA card is like the Great Khali moderating a debate. Except one is entertaining.

Never in my history of working for companies with approachable HR has the HR staff ever went "with" a targeted individual/party to confront someone. Their entire job is to diffuse situations. She is a bit liable for not recognizing that as well and not allowing them to go to the door. Even if they didn't go in I am sure them just standing behind her would have been enough to set him off.

Never in my history of working for companies with approachable HR has the HR staff ever went with the excusing party to confront someone. Their entire job is to diffuse situations. She is a bit liable for not recognizing that as well and not allowing them to go to the door. Maybe. She’s not HR, however. Neither are The Bucks. I know it’s impossible to know what really happened other than what we’ve heard but I believe they believed it wouldn’t escalate to the level that it did. And if what we’ve heard is true, that’s all Phil and Vampire Wrestler Guy. If I were an executive position of authority and I had an employee act the way Phil did, I would of course go straight towards them. Not in a violently confrontational manner but to address the situation at once like adults. So, again, we can’t know every little bit of nuance and behavior that occurred in the situation. But if the Elite and Megha went in to assess and acknowledge the situation only for Phil and vampire boy to go berserk..well..I can’t fault the Elite or Megha for that.

In a 'normal company', HR also don't sit there going over the details of how you're going to do your job that day, but agents in AEW do. The structure of the company is really different, and it's very normal for people to deal with issues backstage at the time they crop up because nobody has cubicles they sit at all the rest of the days of the week. This was an issue that needed dealing with, and I don't think "went on a big, paranoid rant at a press conference" is even the glimmer of an indication he and his friend were about to be violent with these guys. No living person in this world is responsible for Punk and Ace being violent but Punk and Ace themselves.

I have been in so many different circumstances where I've argued with people that have made me see red. I have never once punched them because I have control over myself. Punk should have had control over himself too. If he's unstable enough that just seeing the Elite gets him punching people, then he shouldn't be in a locker room. I think we're confusing hindsight with what the situation was at the time.

I personally don't believe so because if I tell you I am looking for a fight basically and tell you to come find me and you show up then yeah I can see it easily escalating to that situation. If anyone else but them shows up to that door I do not believe the fight takes place. As I said you can't walk into traffic and not expect to get hit. I am absolutely not justifying Punk's actions but it's pretty easy to see how hot he was and how easy it would be for that to go off the rails.

Not anyone else.

Not justifying his actions, but you are saying that they're 'responsible' for his actions in a way that makes the punishment they received insufficient.
