Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and their respective film adaptations and extended cuts. Plus all of the Game of Thrones TV show. However, she died before George Martin finished writing the damn books. So will we all

I wonder if they'll carry on the tradition of a speech made to the commonwealth every Christmas Day only with Charles?

What an amazing life she has led. The history she has gone through.
Its telling that there are a number of queens in the world. But she was always THE Queen.

No, I didn't major in history at school.

No, I didn't major in history at school. Yeah, they began with her grandfather when radios started to become household items for the middle and upper classes. Somewhat amusing to think that what is seen today as a rather quaint royal tradition was once at the forefront of cutting edge technology.

Yeah, it'd be like Charles doing an Xmas TikTok... which I both really want to see and REALLY don't.

Without trying to upset people all i am going to say is Queen Elizabeth had a personal fortune of over US$500 million, the royal family as a whole has an estimated worth of over US$28 billion.
The British government will spend millions on the funeral & other memorials yet each winter in Britian there are over 25,000 preventable deaths due to people (mainly pensioners) being unable to afford to adequately heat their homes.

My Gran turns 90 in January, and if anything the Queens death makes me realise that I need to appreciate her whilst she is still around.

It's wild how long she was part of the global culture lexicon. I mean she reigned for 70 years so it makes sense, but damn, nearly everyone around the globe at least was aware of her.

This is one of those moments where words fail. 70 years. 70 YEARS. I knew the blow was coming this morning when I woke up to word that doctors were monitoring her and family was coming. And you brace. You think you can just bow your head, be grateful for the long life and just get back. But to suddenly see the text that she was gone… to simply text London Bridge to family so they know… you still feel the blow. And your eyes still brim for the turning of the wheel. Did I always agree? No. But here’s something I have in common with the Queen - we all have roads not taken. Decisions that were not always right. And we as commoners will be judged far less harshly by history. In truth, I hope the only judge whose opinion is worth anything was not too harsh. The one thing she deserves is to be with Phillip, her father and mother and sister again and I hope she is enjoying that long awaited reunion. And yes, her role as ruler will always be judged first, but I hope her roles as mother, grandmother and great grandmother will also be included in history’s verdict. As a Yank who has not yet had the chance to cross the Pond, who can only judge from distance and with only 45 of the 70 years on the balance, if my opinion counts, I’m simply respectfully awed. Right or wrong, good or bad, she kept her vow - she served her whole life and served well. Well done, ma’am. God blessed the Queen, God Save The King. Mate I would hope the only person that matters judges those in power harshly because their decisions effects more people than a typical decision a commoner makes. But still shes had a good run, 96 years old and living through wars and other history should be commended.

The worth of the royal family is based on estates and assets like the Crown Jewels, which generate huge amounts of money for the Treasury anyway and are based on a value which could never be liquidated in any case since we could never sell irreplaceable and ancient national treasures. If people are struggling with fuel prices, the blame lies with the greed of the private corporations who set them, and world events that are beyond our control.
