I want to track down all my favorite British icons who met her. So far pics were posted of her with Dusty Springfield, Joanna Lumley, and Lulu three times over.

I have words to say about her. None of them are nice. That is all. One really wonders what the point of this is. Are you that desperate to register opposition to grandma on a wrestling forum? I don't even think you're from somewhere that should care about the queen like that. "I have nothing nice to say so I'll say nothing" only works when you actually say nothing.

On that note there were 7 popes during her reign 15 UK Prime Ministers and 14 US Presidents too. The last Prime Minister (Liz Truss) was born 101 years after the first (Churchill)

Now that I’m home from work I’m able to take this in a lot more and holy shit. Queen Elizabeth II has been the head of state for Canada my entire life, both of my parents entire lives, and as I said earlier in the thread she was THE hero of my grandmother.
In 1959, The Queen and Prince Phillip visited Canada and of all places stopped in Virden Manitoba, a town currently at about 3500 people probably 1000-2000 back then. That’s where my Grandma spent most of her adult life, and seeing the Queen was one of the greatest moments of her life. My mother got to wave at the Queen in a little bumf*** town in western Manitoba when she was 9 years old. My Grandma saved the newspaper article about it, but I have no idea if my mum still has it. A lot of it has to do with memories of Grandma, but I’m honestly struggling to hold back tears right now. It just feels like we’re in a very different world now.
She was a lady to true grace and class, and as someone from a Commonwealth country I don’t believe we will ever see a monarch as special as her again.
EDIT: Screwed up my math, Mum was 6 years old when The Queen visited Virden.

This is one of those moments where words fail.
70 years. 70 YEARS.
I knew the blow was coming this morning when I woke up to word that doctors were monitoring her and family was coming. And you brace. You think you can just bow your head, be grateful for the long life and just get back. But to suddenly see the text that she was gone… to simply text London Bridge to family so they know… you still feel the blow. And your eyes still brim for the turning of the wheel.
Did I always agree? No. But here’s something I have in common with the Queen - we all have roads not taken. Decisions that were not always right. And we as commoners will be judged far less harshly by history. In truth, I hope the only judge whose opinion is worth anything was not too harsh. The one thing she deserves is to be with Phillip, her father and mother and sister again and I hope she is enjoying that long awaited reunion. And yes, her role as ruler will always be judged first, but I hope her roles as mother, grandmother and great grandmother will also be included in history’s verdict.
As a Yank who has not yet had the chance to cross the Pond, who can only judge from distance and with only 45 of the 70 years on the balance, if my opinion counts, I’m simply respectfully awed. Right or wrong, good or bad, she kept her vow - she served her whole life and served well.
Well done, ma’am. God blessed the Queen, God Save The King.

I don't even think you're from somewhere that should care about the queen like that. "I have nothing nice to say so I'll say nothing" only works when you actually say nothing. No, I just didn't like her. Unfortunately, I'm from a country that cares way too much about the royal family despite not being in a position where the monarchy has any say.

Another interesting piece of trivia Queen Elizabeth reigned for roughly 30% of American History.

While I don't have any particularly strong feelings about her one way or another as she wasn't my queen, I find Elizabeth II absolutely fascinating as a historical figure. Just think of how much the world changed from the beginning of her reign to the end.
Plus she loved corgis and corgis are awesome. RIP

Heck, until I got to high school it was “Oh Canada” in the morning, and that part stuck around and is still a thing as best I know, and “God Save the Queen” at the close of the day. I don’t know if any Canadian schools do “God Save the Queen” anymore.
When I was a Beaver/Cub Scout/Boy Scout we did “God Save the Queen” not “Oh Canada” to start meetings. Just weird things I’m remembering and thinking about because of this

I remember when I was a young kid (like 8 or 9) she came to my town and my school allowed anyone who wanted to go and see her to take the day off.
I was so disappointed when I got the day off, only for my mom to force me to actually go. I just wanted to stay home.
Anyway, that's my one and only Queen story from a lifetime largely lived in the UK.

When I was passing out coffee this morning, one of my patients was watching CNN and they were talking about The Queen being under doctors' supervision. A few hours later, I saw that she had passed and my first stop was to her room, since we'd been talking about it this morning.
Crazy to realize that she was Queen for my parents' entire lives, and their both in the mid-to-late 60s.
RIP Your Royal Highness

One We’re Back: A Dinosaur’s Story. 15 Final Fantasy games. Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and their respective film adaptations and extended cuts. Plus all of the Game of Thrones TV show. However, she died before George Martin finished writing the damn books.
