I honestly thought Claudio would win it. Shit, Chris Jericho as Ring of Honor World Champion. WCW, WWF,AEW and ROH. Also is he the only guy to have matches for the WCW, WWF and ROH Belts? Hardys obviously didn't wrestle in WCW but they did win the tag titles I know Matt & Jeff completed the trifecta but I was talking in terms of Singles action.

2022 has really been the year of Jericho winning unnecessary matches.

Wasn't happy about him winning but I'm willing to see if it's going somewhere, such as establishing a new ROH TV deal or to put Daniel Garcia over.

This is leading to him losing it to Garcia so, I have zero issue with it whatsoever.

Decent match, I thought it kind of fell apart at the end but the story of Jericho being the face of ROH should be fun. I appreciate that they're getting behind Daniel Garcia, as it's clear this is all being done to give him a big moment where he beats Jericho to win the title.

If they want ROH to have a tv deal asap then I get putting the title on Jericho, the faster ROH can have his own show the better for the fans so the ROH stuff on AEW broadcast is reduced.

I'd say bring in some former champs to try to try to restore the honor, but the ones they don't already have under contract are almost all either problematic, retired, or in WWE.

I liked Jericho's win and hopefully ROH gets a TV slot soon so it won't take up time on AEW TV.

Loved the match even with the botched ending TBH. It was my MOTN.

This is apart of the deal to get a tv deal? Right?
I guess most of the JAS would be better suited for ROH…
Still a head stratcher.

like someone said on a different forum- to put eyes on AEW right off the bat when they got their TV deal- put the belt on jericho who was the biggest name they had at the time. if they are close to announcing the RoH deal then putting the belt on jericho lets one of their biggest names hold the top title in RoH (and keeps him away from the AEW title picture) to see if it works again.
also sets up pure title champ Garcia vs main title champ and faction-mate and mentor- jericho feud down the road. also probably moves the JAS to the ROH side of things for the same reason.

Wanted Claudio to win, but that was a hell of a match, and Jericho definitely deserves credit for busting his ass. That powerbomb/rana spot was crazy. I'll reserve judgment on the forthcoming angle. Could be a lot of fun, but it'll depend on booking and ROH's presentation/future in general. That’s a 50 year old man doing a Powerbomb/rana spot by the way. Loved that spot Shocked that Jericho won but very interested to see where it goes.

Garcia and 2point0 are great fits for ROH. Tay and Anna would flourish there too.
Sammy and Hager? Not so much.

I liked Jericho's win and hopefully ROH gets a TV slot soon so it won't take up time on AEW TV. Or, even better, unify them with the AEW belts and let ROH drift off into that good night.

I am okay with Jericho winning it. If nothing else, I view it the same way as for why he won the AEW title where Tony Khan will want a established name to draw eyeballs on the product. His current "Sports Entertainer"character fits the type of heel you want for ROH. Match was solid too if maybe some what sloppy at times.
