I think your best bet would be to break up Damage CTRL in the draft and not even bother making an actual angle of it. There's no momentum to be gained from any of them breaking it off because the act isn't doing anyone any favors to begin with and it's not like even Bayley's particularly over at this point so I don't think either of the others would gain much of anything from actually having a storyline break from and subsequent feud with her.

Are they even still doing the Draft? They didn't do one last year and now I'm wondering if they even bother to give a shit about it given how much crossover both brands now seem to be having.

The last set of rumors out there about it is that there will be a draft after Mania. But it doesn't matter who moves where, they will just get fed to Bianca (I think she's retaining at Mania because WWE is incredibly high on her despite the fact that she's cooled off dramatically because she is awful at promos) or the winner of Rhea/Charlotte.

Even as someone who has never really been a fan of this stable I did feel bad for them tonight with them having to job to and get beat up by Lita who looked so slow and out of shape. With how unathletic she looked I was genuinely concerned when she went to do the moonsault and was surprised she was able to do it albeit barely. There was a spot in the match where Lita tried giving Iyo LA Knight's finisher, it looked terrible and Lita even had a look on her face after like she knew she was bombing out there. She really looked like someone who had no business being in there. It was pretty embarrassing to watch. It would be one thing if she was still in shape and could at least be competent enough where she could just get the hot tag after Becky worked the majority of the match but she seemed in way over her head just doing that. I'm kind of curious how Trish will do. I would imagine a good bit better as she still seems pretty fit and I remember her Summerslam match with Charlotte being alright and that wasn't that long ago.

Looks like it's going to be Bayley against Trish and Becky/Lita against Ronda/Shayna. I know it's a horse that's been beaten to death for years but I'm really tired of these part timers showing up and taking Mania spots. It was bad enough with them men we don't need it taking over the women's division as well with Lita and Trish getting Mania matches every year. This would only be Lita’s second WrestleMania match in her whole career, but I get your point. I should've worded it better. I know they haven't had many Mania matches since they retired I just meant that I hope it doesn't become a recurring thing going forward.

People are dumping on Iyo for her ring work but all of her matches have been really short affairs, or booked to where she doesn't get the majority of the offense, which is her strength. It's pretty telling that the longest singles match she's had on the main roster was against Alexa Bliss and it was actually good, since she controlled the flow of the match.

My “they’ll be fine” was in reference to Bayley/Trish. Not doubting the tag title match will be sloppy, but Lita’s genuinely the weak link there. I’d assume they’ll have enough time to plan something that hides her a bit. Ronda can bring it when motivated and Becky/Shayna are still good.

I suspect it’ll be perfectly fine for a dumb 8-10 minute brawl. Agree to disagree. I’m also not quite sure how the Iyo/Alexa point relates other than you wanting to defend her, but it’s why I said they should split them and give them a shot as singles.

I know they haven't had many Mania matches since they retired I just meant that I hope it doesn't become a recurring thing going forward. I do think we need to have a proper conversation about what makes someone objectively “deserving” of being on WrestleMania that isn’t just “I like them”. These cards aren’t booked through the filter of just your favourite wrestler. There’s like 100 people on that roster, every one of them having fans that will say they deserve to be on WrestleMania. And there’s not enough time to give them all time.

I mean I don't think it's a bold statement to say that Damage CTRL should be on the card as a unit since they...you know, have dominated the air time for the past 7-8 months. Have they had a lot of success? Absolutely not. But it's also safe to say that leaving them off is a bad idea as well. It tells the audience that none of the women in that group were worth getting invested in, or have much of a future in the company.

I do think one thing that is worth noting that there are rumors floating around that Bayley's contract is up this year, and she's made it clear she does not want to be left off the Mania card again, and she wants Dakota and Iyo as part of it. If the rumors are true, and WWE goes ahead and kicks them off the card, I can see her leaving to go join Sasha on the indies and in Japan. WWE losing Bayley would be absolutely devastating to the health of their division.

I also could possibly see them having Becky & Lita vs Ronda & Shayna vs Damage CTRL for the tag titles at WM

Even if it's maybe not planned as of now I can see them maybe sticking Sky and Kai in that match for a three way just mainly out of necessity. Becky/Lita against Ronda/Shanya is going to be a train wreck unless they really structure it well as Lita is super limited and Ronda is very hit or miss depending on her opponent and Becky isn't someone I see her meshing well with. Also even Shayna while good isn't someone I see working well in that environment as she excels being a methodical bully who dishes out painful offense not being a pinball for the two legend babyfaces. On paper Iyo and Dakota would be like the best opponents possible in a situation like that in that they are both small girls who can bump and yet the match tonight stunk. I can't even imagine how it would be with Ronda and Shayna. They would probably have to have it with Becky working almost the whole match mainly with Shayna, Ronda coming in on the heat to hit some moves, and then Lita getting the hot tag and making a comeback before Ronda makes her tap to the armbar. That would be the best way to do it and even then it would probably still be pretty rough.

Really in the entire time she's been back I don't think Iyo's done much of anything to signify even why she should get a singles push. Even ignoring how rough the material around the group has been she really hasn't been bringing it in the ring. I feel for her because like Bayley, she was coming back from a long-term injury, but she hasn't looked that great in-ring, no. Which is a shame because so much of what she is is about her ring-work. I feel Kota has a place regardless because after a little time getting back up to pace, she's settled into her bump machine role, and has been doing fun character work when she gets the chance.

Controversial opinion, but I think that issue with Becky/Ronda is a big reason why Charlotte was still involved in the WM 35 main event. They structured a lot of that match to avoid Becky/Ronda sequences, and the ones they had (especially the messed up finishing sequence) weren't good.

There's plenty of people on the current active roster that I don't care for that I think are more deserving to be on Wrestlemania then someone who is never there and just pops up and gets a match.

Iyo has made it explicitly clear multiple times that she's not going to be the same Iyo that she was pre-injury, as this latest injury made her seriously contemplate retirement. She touched on it during an episode of After The Bell, and also in an interview with Japanese media, but it basically boiled down to she has a giant metal plate in her leg now that she isn't sure if it'll ever be removed. It's also worth noting that she's working 3-4 shows per week (on average) now. So she's not gonna be doing as many risky spots. The crowd did like her moonsault to the outside tonight, but otherwise...yeah. There's also the problem that WWE really doesn't like heels doing fancy high flying stuff (remember, Triple H had to turn her face because of her high flying moves), and part of Iyo's offense now is off limits because she's a heel, and also because Rey Mysterio doesn't like anyone but himself and his son using stuff like the West Coast Pop and 619. She's a much better singles competitor, it's just Triple H is either too stupid to realize that or is intentionally sabotaging her. Her tag team stuff in NXT sucked as well because she had no chemistry with Zoey or Alba. She's just not a tag wrestler here in America.
