Miro obviously didn't view AEW as minor leagues compared to WWE when he signed a 4 year extension with them He's viewing his role as more major than AEW is right now it seems, on his end, but also they signed you through like 2027. Like if they have you signed through that length of time they want to probably use you throughout the cards, hence the Hobbs feud proposition, but what confuses me about this "major leagues" thing is he's willing to go through the shit WWE gave him with cuckhold angles and jobbing out to various wrestlers, but in AEW he suddenly has issue with storylines or losing to a particular wrestler, despite having a heavy extension on the books? Something just doesn't really add up to me in any of these discussions. I almost expect Miro to show up on the first New Years Dynamite just to troll everyone lmfao An extension he signed ten months ago, back when the person running WWE was the same guy who allegedly viewed him as 'undeserving' of his wife and wrote storylines with that view of them. I think a lot of guys signed on with AEW believing it was their best bet only for Vince to be ousted and for problems to arise. In some cases, like Black, it was complicated and has been resolved, but for someone like Andrade, clearly the desire is just to get the f*** out and run back into Triple H's arms. Tough to say for sure where Miro lands, but his extension being signed months before all the rest of 2022 dropped might in fact be a big element of why difficulties could be creeping up. It's a weird situation because HHH being in charge doesn't automatically mean you're going to be used better, the backstage environment is probably way better with Trips in charge though, I'd definitely say it'd be easier there. Andrade seems like he views himself way too highly for his own good, and trying to go back to WWE by assaulting someone you work with probably didn't give WWE a ton of want to sign him back right now, especially with Legado as they are. But who knows given HHH still promotes Ric Flair like he's doing. But if the hangup is something like "This doesn't work for me, I can do better storylines and be better featured in WWE" then like... that's not a guarantee even now, and even then Miro turning down the Hobbs story and being shut down by Meltzer when he asked "Why don't you tell us what happened then?", he doesn't look squeaky clean in this scenario if it's as simple as "He wants better booking than he's being pitched". But who knows, as you said, Malakai's was complicated, this could be too.

I keep saying it, nobody could’ve predicted Vince going down for anything (ironically enough it was the constant going down that did it). For example, Claudio Castagnoli had left only a few months before that, he’d be someone that could’ve been feasting under Triple H management, but he made the choice he made based on the situation known to him at the time, and presumably so did Miro and Malakai Black and many others.

Well in some cases they didn't have a choice either, Claudio turned down an offer and walked, some others were just outright fired and told to hit the bricks, and Malakai was one of them (Re-Debuted and was literally cut days later). A lot of those we've seen come back under HHH as well because they never willingly left, which is fair enough.

I don't think it's necessarily the idea they'll definitely get a megapush, I think it's that WWE is what they know and want to go back to and/or might pay better, and also the backstage is no longer abject f***ing misery. Dave put it well talking about how someone will do something in WWE but might not want to do it in AEW. It's the Young Bucks not doing Indytaker unless they move X dollars in merch. That's just how people go about their shit.

It's been said pretty much since Miro signed that he seems content with not wrestling much, playing video games and collecting a paycheck. How official were those impressions? Did Miro himself say so in interviews or streams? Because if true that has been as big an issue as him not being booked at all.

In general I wonder if too more wrestlers want to try there luck with WWE now that Vince's isn't in charge. Like you said no one would have thought Vince was going to get the boot this year. I am sure both WWE guys to AEW to AEW guys to WWE guys are going to learn the classic saying "the grass isn't always greener". I could see why Miro may want to try his hand again in WWE if he truly is not happy with the direction he is going. Wouldn't say I blame him either.

Dave and Garrett discuss the general point of talent possibly viewing WWE as "the major leagues" Kind of a fascinating topic to mull over, isn't it? In the past, let's say since the late 80s or so, saying "going to the #2 promotion" has had a number of ways it could really feel like a downgrade: WCW spent a ton of time taping in small studios, same way Impact eventually did, and in the latter's case I'm sure the decrease in pay was often quite noticeable (WCW's whole payscale was its own beast that doesn't have a lot of comparables in wrestling history). I also imagine that if you were a fan in Europe back in the 90s through today that it's been really ingrained how WWE is the "big leagues"; yes, Impact had some strong tours of the UK, for example, but going back to the 90s and especially in the wake of the fall of a lot of the western European pro wrestling scene, WWF was the big time and the most visible promotion, as far as I can tell (don't hear as many Euro folks talking about WCW nostalgia, for example). The reason you don't get that perception as much in Japan is because their larger promotions didn't go away. But then there's also the experience many wrestlers who are on the scene today have had since the early 2000s; does one's perception of WWE as the "end goal" promotion change based on the geographic area where you came up in the industry? Does it vary based on how long a stint on the modern indies you did, or how much international travel you got to do before WWE came knocking? Is it simply a mentality, like Meltzer says, where you've got guys like Omega and Danielson and there are fans of AEW practically pleading with them to be more selfish with how often they're willing to lose, but others who might be more overly protective of their spot/aura/perception? What about wrestlers who might be in the middle, where their whole thing is just "wherever I'm working, I'm working, doesn't matter if it's 50 people in the crowd or 50,000"? Ooh, and how about the guys who came up in the industry during WWE's "we only hire giants, outside of the occasional Paul London/Spanky signing" days? Did that cause some of them to not as heavily internalize "WWE is the goal"? Not saying yes on that, just spitballing. It's impossible for us to say for sure who fits into what categories, outside of stories we've heard about individual wrestlers or general vibes we can only speculate on. Like, I can imagine Claudio and Samoa Joe in the last category: they'll work anywhere, they'll give you a show, they'll put themselves into it because they're professionals, they've been all over and done nearly everything, and you can't awe them with anything likely to make them say "I'll do that angle in promotion X, but not promotion Y." I mean, hell, when Joe was still in TNA he got to main event against friggin' Misawa, one of his influences, at the Budokan; for guys like that they've seen all kinds of things before going to WWE or national US television, they'll just want to know what you're paying and how respectfully you'll treat them. (note: Joe's situation is it's own thing, since there's the talk that he might've been lined up for an office job with Triple H in charge. Whether or note that's still a thing right now, who knows, but I'm only talking about how these guys may or may not carry themselves on the job as active wrestlers) Like Meltzer said, what are you going to do to make Kenny Omega or Bryan Danielson go "oh wow, I've GOT to be part of the bigger promotion!" given their histories? Then there's someone like Mox, who wanted out of the WWE system to do his own thing, or someone like Kevin Owens, who would likely be fine working almost anywhere but happened to like the deal WWE gave him. On the other hand, what's the perspective of someone like Miro, who came up through the WWE system and hasn't played too often outside that particular sandbox? It's a strange world we're living in now in that regard: WWE has been the big boy on the block for years, but depending on when you came up, where you came up, and how you came up in the business, it's possible your entire set of goals or what you're willing to do for one promotion versus another might be completely different.

In fairness Miro on his twitch stream a year ago had a conversation with Paul Wight and they talked about how there'd a lot of stuff in AEW that they felt were... not amateur or Bush league... but things that they felt out them below AEW but they also talked about a lot of positive stuff from AEW too.
I don't think it's quite as negative as it sounds, but I also think for some who don't have outside projects or are taking a lot of outside bookings a place like WWE where they can focus on money may be more appealing

The "Miro turned down suggestions thing" leading to him not being used as much kind of makes sense when you remember Jack Evans admitting he wasn't on TV much because he wouldn't pitch for himself and the company seemingly preferring to go with those more active with their stories.
Miro wants to be pitched, Tony Khan wants people to pitch. Those two things together leads to long layoffs of action because Miro will keep on keeping on because he wants to protect his image and not rush back to something he doesn't agree on, and Tony probably wants Miro to tell him what kind of direction he wants that isn't just "Win the titles."
That said, I miss Miro's twitch channel, especially when he'd do watch alongs with football and get educated on the game through chat. Him confusedly asking a chat member "Coach, why would they run it there?" was top tier stream stuff, man.

WWE is the bigger company, possibly more money, definitely more cache in terms of someones overall personal brand. The scale of the company, and the fact it was all booked on the whims of a madman, probably made even being a midcarder feel like a real achievement.
Whereas AEW, if you're expecting to come in and be a big fish in a smaller pond, I can see why being a midcarder there feels a bit underwhelming.
I think ex-WWE guys in AEW have probably moved half a step up the card for the most part. Some of them would've expected more than that.

She is mad that TK didnt give her an offer and now she is going full Road Dogg/Bischoff mode, Miro is never coming back or he will get Brian Caged once if he returns(constantly jobbing on tv)

Yeh either her husband is trying to work something out and her pettiness is getting on the way.
Kr they are in the same page and are incredibly childish.
Either way she comes off really bad.

I'm a woman and I'd rather watch two women wrestle over a title to see who's the best than see them fight over a man. f*** off with that "relatable to women" crap like we're one huge monolith.

While I do agree that women's feud lack variety in motivatio, her comments almost read like a random reddit comment. Levels of pandering to WWE are sky high. I also like how she brings up the feud everyone hated and the only redeeming part was Miro throwing a fish

I think it was HMark who brought up the fact that talent who have only ever worked in the WWE are going to struggle outside of that system, and I think we're seeing the actual effects of that play out with Miro and CJ Perry.
I'll do my best to maintain my objectivity as it relates to how pro wrestling stories can be told, but AEW IS different in terms of how they treat things.
