I'm just gonna throw this out there - for a while, Thunder Rosa was one of the most over women in the sport. As in, over enough that any complaints about her would've been responded with "It's a shame you feel that way" followed by a depush. But complaints about her were piling up for months and just failing to gain any traction because she was also beloved by the fans.
But between her poor title run, the amount of problems piling up, the timing of her injury, and her being so blatant about trying to sabotage Shafir, the proverbial dam burst. People who'd been complaining politely got loud, people who'd been quiet spoke up, and since the fans were massively cooled on her they listened and reacted instead of just saying "lol ivelisse is at it again."

The loudest (and at the time only) voice of dissent against Rosa at the time being Ivelisse is a real boy crying wolf situation. Even if she was telling the truth, her reputation is so in the mud that no one believed her for good reason.

I almost feel like some of the issues in the women's division this year is that so many people got pulled into picking sides between Rosa and Britt. This is admittedly me speculating, and also admittedly Rosa's injuries played a part in her reign being a dud, but something even in hindsight felt off and not so harmonious in the division that goes beyond "AEW cannot book women outside of Britt and Jade". Like again a big part of the change is likely the restructuring in management, and Ari Daviari/Madison Rayne running the division, but like I said before it almost feels too coincidental.

I feel like the improvements to the women's division presentation have mostly been better matches. The format is still pretty much the same (women's title feud + TBS title feud going simultaneously, possibly another angle, usually all scrunched into one quarter), I'd say AEW's just had better luck with talent availability with Shida and Riho seemingly reliably set up in the States, Willow's contract getting settled, and Penelope Ford coming back (with her injury hopefully not being a big one). Oh, and Skye Blue's gotten better.
Yeah, Rosa had the rough feud with Deeb, but I don't really see that as a lesser effort on the booking side, regardless of how dreadful the promos were. AEW gave Deeb and Rosa a chance, it didn't work out super well. I don't see it as materially different from the last few weeks except that they've had better promo workers keeping that side afloat, but I'd rather Deeb get chances than only give that time to the better promos.
The one thing that has actually changed is we're not getting so much of Britt Baker's stupid meta nonsense, and if that was just Baker being passive aggressive toward Rosa specifically, that speaks ill of Baker more than anything.

And Ivelisse's claims still include allegations of Rosa sleeping with people backstage to get a push, and shit that overall just has nothing to do with "she's a bitch". I'm glad that even as a lot of scrutiny does fall onto Rosa, almost nobody is looking at this and going "Damn Ivelisse was really onto something"
It doesn't provide context at all, though. In one part she says she and Rosa work well together and are their best with each other, which is great. In another part she says she showed up to TV every week when she was injured, unlike Rosa, which is an insult. Both things are true.
This isn't on Rosa - as I'm sure that statement was lifted off an interview she made, but talk about a nothing statement. You wanna know when Rosa will be back? We don't know! TWEET!
If they want Rosa to relinquish the title, they can do that, obviously, but it depends on what they want to do with it. The word "interim" isn't really magically changing anything for me one way or the other when everything would otherwise be almost exactly the same.
During a recent interview with the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Thunder Rosa revealed that she recently resumed jogging for the first time in 3 months, noting that her progress is slow but steady and she has yet to be cleared to wrestle or resume lifting.
"I'm doing really well. This week, we made some good progress. I started running for the first time in almost 3 months. So, the physical activity is getting a little bit bigger and I'm allowed to do a lot more stuff than before. I'm not allowed to lift yet, I'm not allowed to do a lot of stuff. I'm not allowed to wrestle. But we're making progress and the fact that I can actually jog for seven minutes on and off, for me, it's huge because I have not been able to do that," said Rosa.
Rosa also revealed that she has spoken to other patients with similar injuries but notes that everyone is different and she is trying to take it slow so that she can progress in the best way possible. She says she still has yet to develop a concrete return time frame.
"I have spoken to other patients that have had similar injuries that I have at the place that I go to. For a lot of us, you know, everybody's different, it's hit and miss when you're talking about lower back injuries, always. You have to be very careful because you can injure it again. You utilize your back for everything. So I'm really hopeful that things will continue to progress the way they are," she said. "We're taking our time, and we're taking all the measures that I need to take to stay safe. Like I said, I'm really thankful that I'm allowed to go and do signings still, but I have to, again, be very careful, because my back gets irritated really easily. I don't want to get a huge setback that is gonna take me from doing the basic stuff, cleaning my house, you know, taking care of like walking my dog, and all that stuff. Because you can really reinjure yourself. But I still don't have like a set time yet, but again, I'm working really hard to get better, physically and mentally.
"Because mentally, injuries can take a toll," she added. "I'm really happy that I can do that. I shared that with my family yesterday, and they're all excited. The fact that I can do more physical activity to me is huge. Because when that is taken away from you, and you are forced to be sitting at home or to be chilling, I'm just cooking like a maniac. It's hard on any athlete, but I'm really excited that I know when I come back, I'm gonna come back a lot stronger in many aspects than then when I left before."
Rosa also said that she did put pressure on herself to return quickly but her doctors eventually had to talk to her and let her know that there's a timeline for a reason.
This might sound like a overreaction, but this whole “interim” champion bullshit they like to do a lot is kinda throwing me off the product a little bit. If a Champion is injured. Don’t know when they’re coming back. Strip them of the title. Christ
I don't mind interim champs, but as I've said before, there needs to be limits to it. If a champ can't come back within a specified time frame then they should be stripped. You can't leave it open-ended like this for months on end. Whether it's 30/60/90 days, set a limit that every injured champ has to meet and if they don't, the interim champ becomes the full champ and they have a match when everyone is fit and able.

It matters because if Toni loses to Hayter, then she was never champion. She won't be in the title history.

Then Tony needs to strip Rosa of the title and give it to Storm.
