Somehow this guy finds more feet to put in his mouth.

While my initial gut reaction is to dunk on Levi, I'd rather focus on how weird it is that people single out Gunn for working with the same people all the time. Every successful director ever has had people that come along with them from production to production. If people collaborate well with one another(brothers or not), they're naturally going to want to do that again. It's just easier than trying to build chemistry with an entirely new group of people every single time out.
Also, Sean typically plays smaller roles, it's not like James casts him in the lead. He's like the Ted Raimi of this scenario.

Yeah, it's weird how Gunn gets singled out for this when every director has their personal favorite actors to work with from starring roles to bit players. Like Kevin Smith never got shit for having Jason Mewes appear in pretty much every film he's ever done.

Let's be fair, the people who really single Gunn out for this are generally fans of a particular former DC movie director.

It's like Sam Rami getting heat for casting Bruce Campbell in random roles or Quentin Tarantino cast SO many similarly. Directors feel more comfortable having familiar actors around him and it wouldn't surprise me if more GotG cast members found themselves in the new DCU films.

I hate to give Levi credit for anything, but that quote isn't in the linked article. I wanted to see it in context because Levi is very good friends with both Gunn and Safran, so it's more likely to be a tongue in cheek comment than an actually pissy one.

The interview in question (already queued up to context): Seems like he meant it tongue-in-cheek, but there's definitely a hint of salt in there.

My main response is mostly just rolling my eyes because Maxwell Lord is generally way more interesting when he isn't outright villainous.

I can imagine he would be a little salty because he's not exactly booked and busy right now but not to the degree the out of context quotes made it look.

James Gunn should cast Zachary Levi as Ten-Eyed Man.

Seems like he meant it tongue-in-cheek, but there's definitely a hint of salt in there. It's definitely got some heavy seasoning on it, and to be fair to him, I kinda get it. The first Shazam movie was a solid success, and while the second movie bombed it was released with little fanfare after it was clear the audience had abandoned the DCEU as the lost cause it was, and all but a couple of IP movies have eaten shit at the box office over the last 15 months, he probably should at least be given some consideration for staying on board.

If Zack were directing the movie, I might be able to see him throwing her a bone with a cameo, but James Gunn is pretty open about his disdain for Grace.

First look at what may be the Superman: Legacy logo

Huh, so they're using a Kingdom Come-inspired Superman logo for this movie. Also the logo that Brandon Routh's Superman (based on the Reeve/Routh Superman from those movies) used in the Arrowverse Crisis On Infinite Earths.
