Probably because S1 had that Justice League cameo in it and was therefore canon to the DCEU. If he wants his show to be relevant to the DCU he had to do that. IMO, if you're starting a new universe and trying to distance from the last one you recast everyone to avoid messes like this but I don't think Gunn was ever going to recast his Peacemaker crew.

I was thinking back a bit to the recent 60th anniversary update of "An Adventure In Space and Time", where they switched out Matt Smith with Ncuti Gatwa, I really think they could do something similar with Peacemaker S1 down the line once they cast a new JL entirely, and insert footage of the next cast into existing footage with Peacemaker and the team to make it appear they're interacting with them. I'm expecting a "You're fired/and with good cause" any second now...just...throwing it out there

It can stand on its own. Plus, Peacemaker did make a few off-colour jokes at the expense of the JL (specifically Aquaman and Superman from what I remember) and maybe Gunn doesn't want those against his version of the characters.

There were a couple of videos yesterday from people (Snyder cultists) who were pointing out that if Gunn kept his Peacemaker/SS continuity in, the kryptonite bullet/poop fetish thing would be kept in, so this correction ought to shut them down

With sex doll Starfire? Yeah, this does not fill me with confidence. And they announce the Titans movie in development the same week as this too.

Some dipshit on Threads asked James Gunn to make a Justice League animated revival because X-Men '97 is popular. James Gunn gave a classy response, saying that they're not going to just do something because it's a trend. I have less classy things to say. If you're that f***ing stupid, that you're going to ask for something where the biggest star of the show is dead, you don't deserve to be online. You don't deserve to socialize with other human beings. You belong on a deserted island where you cannot infect anyone with your brain rot.

It's funny, Starfire and Arsenal are co-leads in two of the best books going right now, Titans and Green Arrow. And Jason's stuck in a terrible mini-series that's been sitting on a shelf since 2021. He's barely in it, despite Red Hood being in the title and the art is terrible.

Volume 2 of Red Hood and the Outlaws, also written by Lobdell, was also a lot of fun with the team of Red Hood, Bizarro, and Artemis (the Amazon, not the Artemis who was prominent in Young Justice). It was way better than the first volume. Though I think Vol. 2 was part of Rebirth and not New 52-era DC.
