Wait, are you saying you don't want writers on drugs or you want the writers to start taking drugs again? Because if you think that the SNL writers from back in the day weren't on drugs then man, I got some news for you. I mean, every writer and cast member they interviewed for Live From New York freely admitted there was drug usage happening. Jane Curtin may have actually been the only person there NOT on some sort of substance.

Having a single anchor for update (I know they had dual anchors as early as season 3), and having it be a parody of the news again. The problem is that most news shows are already a parody of what they used to be. Only, instead obvious jokes, they tell it completely straight. Telling the viewers that what they say is the real honest-to-God news. But I agree that it needs to cut it back in terms of time and anchors. My gripe over the last few years is let actual cast members play major politicians. Getting a celebrity to play the president and/or Vice-President sounds like a good idea. But doing that every week devalues your current cast. Chevy Chase didn't look or sound like Gerald Ford, but it worked. Someone mentioned Drugs. The older SNL cast and writers all did cocaine and it's seen as the best years. The current cast just smokes weed and is not a favorably seen. Maybe it's time to bring back cocaine.

I saw they had the 70's SNL episodes on there and I decided I wanted to check out some shows and moments I've heard about but never actually seen (the Milton Berle episode, the Desi Arnaz episode, the Elvis Costello incident, the Beatles invitation, etc.). What shocked me was how completely open the cast was with their drug use, casually mentioning and even making it the focus of sketches and monologues and the cold open. No hinting, no coding, no subtlety. Just straight up "so I was doing some heroine a couple minutes ago and it got me thinking...".

Kate McKinnon doing any of her dead-on impressions isn't funny to you? Nope, but comedy is subjective that is my opinion. Just like I prefer the original English dub oF Leap over the American dub.

Kate McKinnon doing any of her dead-on impressions isn't funny to you? It just seems like a weird thing to point out to take issue with, especially since the lesser impressions of political figures has alwways fallen on the men's side (as talented as he is, Baldwin's Trump has never been good and only really was a recurring casting because of how much it irritated the subject of the impression and the free press said subject would inadvertently give it) And your citing the Kids in the Hall thing is odd to read as well. Like, the joke was never, in any sketch, that they were men in women's clothing. They were playing characters who were women. How was that an immediate deal breaker in sketches for you? Men playing women and women playing men has existed independently in the majority of cultures since theater began thousands of years ago. I'm just trying to figure out where you're coming from with this. My issue with the Kate stuff is that the show became "Kate McKinnon featuring some other folks"

SNL needs to hire a couple doctors so they can give out the right amount of creative drugs while monitoring the health of the writers/actors so we don't end up with another Chris Farley situation.

So I came to an SNL thread and a "Superstar Billy Graham impersonation contest" broke out.

Seems to be overly political. And it’s usually trying to be more partisan than funny Too many cast members Writers on drugs Something something but the show has always had politics! (Granted the more extreme they are [now], the more noticeable it is)

Wouldnt mind seeing the return of TV Funhouse. Yeah, a lot of the older ones (Ambiguously Gay Duo comes to mind) dont hold up that well, but you still have potential for some good satire with new segments/characters.
