This was a pretty interesting one, with how critically panned the show was many places. This is one of those numbers that can be spun to fit about a dozen different narratives. Personally, I think it's pretty solid with the sports competition it was facing last night.
Certainly not the dropoff some were predicting with a Jay Lethal opener and a Brian Cage main event.

Pretty good numbers given the competition. Meltzer figured they'd be down 10% and that was roughly what happened. Also want to say that the pattern every week is they lose viewers over the course of the show so if it's that way again this week, we shouldn't be surprised and/or blame someone like Jarrett or Colt. It's the norm and probably more likely this week given how the sports competition went.

I guess the show ratings turned out ugly the moment Nyla and Vickie cut promos(no disrespect).
World Series did a 2.78 in the demo, almost close to Bengals/Browns which was a 2.84.

Yeah, odds are a lot of people started flipping over once the no hitter got into the 6th inning and the ESPN app alerts started going out. I did. I hope it doesn’t get pinned on Cage. I’ve enjoyed having the big lug around again, and I actually think his matches have generally been good.

Considering history was being made with only the second no hitter in World Series history (first one being Don Larsen's perfect game in 1956) and it wasn't a typically great episode of Dynamite, it held up pretty well. I'd like to see how big a drop-off the last half hour was.

Yeah, fine enough. I know I was switching back and forth during the last couple innings because of the no-hitter going on, probably not the only person doing so.

Doing that number against a no hitter is impressive I'd say, card wasn't even insane on paper
F*** the Astros, by the way

That entire segment was a train wreck. A match everyone knew the outcome to going in. No one cares about Marina. The commentary was annoying, The camera work and structure was a mess in that segment. Etc. Just a misfire completely.

And no disrespect intended to Joe or Brian Cage, but that was not a particularly interesting main event, either. Even during the live thread people were saying the show was front-loaded.

Barely anyone cared for Cage unless he was doing flips

If you’re only gonna book one women’s match per show, you need to do better than that.

911,000? Take away those zeroes and you have it right; time to call 911 on this fetid promotion bleeding out on the street. Have you ever seen such a wretched fall from grace since Lucifer himself was cast from the heavens? There is no hope left for this company, and each day it becomes clearer that the very foundation of the earth beneath it shall give way, swallowing whole this folly of indie spot monkeys and meme wrestlers, and devouring it with the all-consuming burn of magmal demise. The earth itself will reclaim its greatest mistake, and all that will be left there would leave it envious of Ozymandias for its gaping emptiness!

From a personal perspective, the episode was one of AEW's Dynamite's worst regardless of how many people saw it suck...Glad they are maintaining a very passionate base through all the drama, however.

Overall numbers are up compared to last year during this week, and last year the World Series wasn't going on, let alone a no-hitter.
That said, demo numbers are down from last year, but that could also just be demo numbers getting lower across the board as more and more of you whippersnappers cut the cord.

Last year the numbers started going down around this time because of the switch to Dynamite airing live on the West Coast (which also began happening immediately after they were preempted for a few weeks by hockey). Prior to that switch they were getting over a million fairly consistently.
