Meltzer was pretty down on him when talking Dynamite, "they've already got top guys, I don't see it". He's 33 now, that's not super old in wrestling nowadays, so I don't know if he doesn't still have some room to improve and grow. He;'s been pro 16 years now and I don't see much he does wrong or especially bad. I don't see him as a "put the world title on them soon" talent like MJF yet, but I'm starting to think he could be higher on the card than he is at the moment (though we could say the same about many in the company).
So is he an New York Times bestseller, or does the Page have you in a rage?

I'm a big Ethan Page fan. Not sure if I'd strap him up right this moment or anything, but Atlantic or TNT title sometime? Certainly.

Meltzer's out of touch on most things lately, so not shocked he doesn't get Page.
He'd be a pretty instant upper midcard player for WWE right now and certainly has the chance at a similar role in AEW. I feel like Meltzer doesn't love him because he's not Workrate McGee. He's perfectly serviceable in-ring, knows how to connect with fans in and out of the ring and is charismatic.

He's a YA novel written by a super rich adolescent TikTok influencer that's meant to become a tv show, not to be read.

I like him a ton.
Granted, he's wormed his way into my heart by vlogging about toy hunting, which makes him an easier sell for me than he would be otherwise.
But as far as what he's got as a wrestler? He's a big, attractive guy who can work and cut a good promo. Attractive is not insignificant in my personal evaluation, either, I just love looking at the guy. I also think that an MJF face turn opens up a spot for him. I feel like the biggest ceiling on him has been that MJF does a similar heel shtick, but better.
I can see the argument against him, though. He's a good promo, but he's not a charisma machine. His catchphrases and mannerisms are hokey. He's good in the ring and has the best Razor's Edge of any current wrestler I've seen, but he's not great-great in singles matches that I've seen.
...he's kind of like if Mr. Kennedy weren't a ****-up and had more of a solid resume before hitting TV. Page checks every box, but there's a tier he hasn't reached yet with his work. But then, I think that's the kind of wrestler that should get pushed for a bit to see how they do with main event material, which is sometimes the difference maker.

I honestly also feel like he hasn't been given the consistent reps to actually show that he could reach that next level. He's been in tag teams or larger stables where he doesn't get a chance to get a real solo run going. I don't mean to make this to be an AEW vs. WWE discussion, but I reallllly feel like he's more a WWE guy than an AEW guy. Just my two cents on it.

I am a big fan of Page from using the Edge to how devoted of a father he seems to be.
With that said I think one of the biggest issues with pro wrestling in today's social world is that it seems harder to accept that not everyone is cut out to be champion.
Just a generalization nothing from this post really suggests that he should be hot-shotted based on merit.
Some people are just really solid hands and that is okay and I feel that aspect of the wrestling economy has become really muddled.
Sometimes it comes off as if fans expect some rotating wheel where people finally get their turns and to me that diminishes what these guys and guys of the past have accomplished.

Ethan Page doesn't get the credit for being *the* guy to really be the catalyst for people turning around on Impact when they could have left as soon as the Broken Matt stuff concluded. The guy knows how to outreach and connect with fans in a way on the indys where his only peers are Danhausen and Matt Cardona. He's incredibly valuable in that regard.
As a talent, The North were one of the best tag teams in the world in the very recent past and when he's been given the opportunity to show off what he can do in the ring he's fantastic.
The most total of total packages. Meltzer needs to look harder.

He's one of those guys that every time I see him in the ring I'm like "Oh, he's actually really bloody good". The fact that he can make the release Razor's Edge look safe is a testament to that. Add being great on the mic and at body language and expression, and he just feels like a star.

Even if you don't make Ethan Page the top star of your promotion because you have some other quality in mind you want for it, no way you don't make this dude a top piece. He's that kind of really good where it makes no sense to have him doing near-nothing.

Plus he was one of the first guys along with Magnus to get a retro hasbro'esque action figure (chella) that has helped blow that genre wide open again...We have chella, zombie sailor, and mattel now making some pretty decent additions to the old hasbro figure line...As a collector that definitely earns points for me haha

I also think Page suffers from being a solid and above-average talent in the middle of an already loaded original roster and numerous major draws from WWE and ROH history getting signed up so quick.
But I think he’s got more than enough oomph with his character and mic delivery that I bet he could develop into a major player for AEW. Not calling him can’t miss off the bat, but even if they tried a serious push for him and he didn’t deliver, what was the harm? That’s the one way to get a new ticket seller going.

"33 is super old in wrestling nowadays" I don't know what the f*** Dave is smoking here, Hangman's 31, Omega's 39, Punk was in his mid 40s, Mox is 36, ADAM COLE IS THE SAME AGE. Why the f*** can't Ethan Page be taken seriously or be a top talent at 33 years old? Why is that suddenly "Super old in wrestling"? Is it just because Dave doesn't see him as a main eventer? If so like fair enough, but bringing up age is really stupid when a lot of top talents in AEW right now are Ethan's age... or older then he is. He said that’s not super old haha

Its weird how he's had mouthpieces, but he really doesn't need one. I think that's moreso because he's one of the rare talents that can have a fellow great talker to play off of to get both further over. Him and Stokely and him and MJF are like Bockwinkle and Heenan or Perfect and Flair or Heyman and Punk.

I was thinking that after i wrote by post I honestly liked the pairing of him and Scorpio Sky, like they played off each other and his mic work covered for Scorpio Sky's.

Right, plus I think if he was just talking for himself, he'd be very difficult to keep heel for long. He's too funny to not warm up to.
