Mets just extended McNeil. 4 years 60 million with an option for 2027.
Very team friendly deal.

In baseball video game news, Jazz Chisholm will be the cover athlete for MLB The Show 23. That's weird. Seems like it would be a lay-up for Julio Rodroguez.

Maybe Sony can still have enough influence (and be petty enough, but with what we're seeing elsewhere, they kinda are) on it to not put a guy that's on a team which Nintendo still owns 10% of to be the cover athlete? (yes, I know Jr. was the cover in 17, but he had been retired for years and his induction into the HoF was still on the minds of people... and the cover itself shows as little "Seattle Mariners" as possible)

In baseball video game news, Jazz Chisholm will be the cover athlete for MLB The Show 23. They had Cavaliers player and Mets fan Donovan Mitchel to begin the stream. Was so sure it was going to be Lindor

In baseball video game news, Jazz Chisholm will be the cover athlete for MLB The Show 23. And the cover athlete for the Collector's Edition will be Derek Jeter! Jetes is back in the game!

The Dodgers are breaking from their only HOFers get their number retired tradition.
Fernando Valenzuela will finally have his number retired.

In baseball video game news, Jazz Chisholm will be the cover athlete for MLB The Show 23. Any news on new features/changes to the game? They reached a deal and the Negro Leagues will be in the game for years. So we're gonna get legends spaced out. They haven't announced Josh Gibson and Cool Papa Bell for this season, but they have announced Satchel, Rube Foster and Buck O'Neil. Guessing Gibson and Cool Papa will be next season.

I'll be signing Satchel as a FA in my dynasty for sure. LOL

Steve Cohen got interviewed by Mets' radio announcer Howie Rose, and ended up talking about the development that's going to happen around Citi Field. For those that don't know, the Mets' location in Queens has long been right across the street from a bunch of auto repair chop shops, which in turn were built upon the famous "Valley of Ashes" that Fitzgerald wrote about in The Great Gatsby. While Shea Stadium/Citi Field have Flushing Meadows and Corona Park nearby, plus Main Street in Flushing, none of them are right next to the park, so you'd basically ride the train to a game and not have anything in the immediate area to do...which is now on track to eventually change.
That said, when I hear about it it kind of sounds like what the Cardinals and Braves have done, or maybe a little like that big mall-style development in Foxboro by the Pats' stadium. Better than nothing, I guess, but God I so much prefer just being in a city and getting to walk right up to a park or arena from a real neighborhood. Loved doing that in San Fran, Chicago, and Boston for baseball, love doing it for hockey in various cities, just such a better, more organic atmosphere.

That's why I loved when the Devils moved from being in a literal swamp in the Meadowlands to smack dab in Downtown Newark. Granted it's still Newark but in one of the much less murdery parts of town. Just has that city energy to it. I'm not a Mets fan, but I've been to CitiField for other things and Chop Shop City is just depressing. I wish they'd get a real neighborhood around it. But like you said, the plan is better than nothing.
