The Padres I have heard about their finances, only a matter of time till they start trading the team. They might win a championship in between, but that team is going to sell off eventually like the Marlins were in a few years. They're showing you that other teams tend to lie about finances. Well maybe the owners doesn't care about losing money. But most of these team owners they are not it to lose money forever. So I would not be surprised if they win a championship, they are open for business.

Baseball has ruined our great national pastime of cup-adjusting. Purists are spinning in their graves. If they outlaw spitting I'm done! They already outlawed chew and greenies. The modern game doesn't even resemble baseball.

I have let it known I'm not a fan of Manfred or his rule changes but the Pitch Clock might be the only thing of his that I like, that remains to be seen though

Takes into effect this year. He essentially signed an extra 5/$170M
Full no trade clause and no opt outs

Bottom of the ninth. Tie game. Bases loaded. 2 outs. Full count. STRIKE THREE ON A BAT BOX VIOLATION LOLOL Manfred sucks. Or, maybe GET YOUR ASS IN THE BOX!!! WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR YOU TO PLAY WITH YOUR CUP ANYMORE!!! Honestly, it's going to take some time to adapt. That's why they're doing it in Spring Training. But I like what I see so far. The games are noticeably faster. Something that baseball needs. This is a rule change I very much welcome. Helps speed the game up, but also one that's not absurd.

What remains to be seen now is how the anti-shift and bigger bases rules work out. They clearly want the game on the field to go back a bit more to what it was like circa the 80s, where there were more guys hitting closer to .300, more balls in play overall, and more stolen bases, but I do think the "only two throw overs to first before it's a balk" thing is pretty dumb. I'm fine with cutting down on ridiculous time wasting between pitches, stuff like the "lemme adjust my gloves, my cup, my helmet, then let me tap the bat three times, then let me-" going away is great, but dealing with a runner on base really shouldn't be a concern, even if it does slow things down sometimes.

I think they had to put in a limit on throws over because if they didn't, then pitchers would just throw over to 1st constantly to restart the clock. Of course MLB does want more stolen bases, so that's probably just as big a reason for the limit, but pitchers definitely would have abused it if there wasn't a limit in place IMO.

An automatic ball or strike, particularly one that ends a game, is patently absurd. I think there needs to be a warning system that's implemented, because ending or extending an inning or a game because a batter or pitcher wasn't ready to go within one or two seconds is just asking for trouble. Give the batting and pitching teams two warnings, then after that you start calling balls and strikes.

If you implement a warning for going past the pitch clock, they should have the home team's mascot come out on a golf cart, honk a bicycle horn, and throw a flag on the ground.

Small sample size, but the average spring training game has gone from about 3 hours to about 2 hours, 35 minutes.

I could imagine a situation or two like that springing up, but I don't think a pitcher would gain much from it; you still have to throw over to first, and while it's not the same physical taxation as a full-powered pitch to the plate, it's still stress on the arm. But to be fair we'll have to see how a lot of stuff like this all plays out over the course of the year.

The Phillies have looked good
It's really fun to have one of the top prospects in Baseball right now in Painter while also just... also having a good and fun team to watch with aspirations and legitimate expectations

To be completely honest, I really don't see how a game ending with a pitch clock violation is fundamentally any different than a game ending with a balk, other than one being new and one not. Just wait til the first walk-off clock violation and see how long it takes for someone to call it a "clock-off".

Can the Padres just please step up this year and take the west, I am tired of seeing the Dodgers in the playoffs and I'm not even a NL fan
