Angels had Ohtani pitch an absolute gem and lost the game, stop me if you've heard this one before lol
Lost to the a borderline AAA A's in a stadium that wasn't even halfway full for Opening Day because the city sees the writing on the wall that they're probably gonna move
The Angels offense only scoring one run against that squad isn't concerning for just a single game, but it's still crazy.

I really hope the Angels trade Ohtani at the deadline. They probably won't because he makes money for them, but man what a waste to have his talent on that franchise. Thankfully not for much longer either way.

But Sale couldn't pitch today. It was his birthday and he had too much cake or something. And why is Ryan Brasier still on this team? Does he have pictures of John Henry with farm animals? Are the Red Sox supposed to be decent this year? They could win a wild card spot, but there's a lot of ifs. If Bello, Whitlock and Casas live up to their potential. If Yoshida can adjust to MLB. If Chris Sale can be Chris Sale for at least half a season. I know it's just game one but so far they look like the same s#!t show they were last year.

Update on the Angels: Arte Moreno decided it was more cost effective to not send his team's broadcasters on the road to call away games, so they'll keep doing them from a studio.
Arte Moreno sucks.
Also sad to see Oakland and Miami not even close to full for Opening Day, but this is what the modern baseball landscape has allowed way too many teams to become.

Oakland is probably a lost cause as the fans see the writing on the wall and it's just a matter of time before they are in Vegas, but actually somewhat surprised that the Marlins couldn't get a better crowd considering how hyped the fans were in that same stadium a week ago for the WBC. Miami is definitely a bandwagon market in general though, so I guess no one there is buying the Marlins as a threat to top 3 teams in the NL East (and they shouldn't). I think I'm more annoyed at the cheap owners for the Reds and Pirates. Those fanbases would pack their stadiums if they had a reason to go, but their owners just don't care. At least the Pirates look reasonably close to having a decent team with the prospects they have coming up, not sure about the Reds.

That is super cheap Also yeah on Miami and Oakland not having full houses is not surprising. Miami is at least getting better so that should go up but the issue of teams not fielding a winning project and just outright beating the fans should be giving MLB pause

As Dan LeBatard and other Miami area sports people have pointed out: the problem isn't baseball in Miami, it's the Marlins. They've never been a consistently interesting team and the ownership's had several fire sales in its 30 year existence, including two after winning World Series. Not to mention all the bullshit the Loria gave the city over getting them to foot the bill for Marlins Stadium.
I always hate it when people blame the Miami fanbase for being fairweather baseball fans when they've been consistently screwed by the Marlins' ownership and MLB for enabling the Lorias of the world to commit highway robbery on the city. There's zero trust there.

That security guard letting out his inner Bill Goldberg Seriously? That whole scene sounds like it belongs in an Adam Sandler (or Kevin James or Jimmy Fallon or Vince Vaughn) movie.

Yeah to be fair to Marlins fans, they did draw 2.2 million in the first year of their new stadium, which was also the off season that they signed Reyes, Buehrle, etc, to create some hype, but then they had a fire sale a year later and have been awful ever since. But still, they have drawn less than a million fans in 4 consecutive seasons (not counting 2020 obviously). That's really bad even factoring the bad reputation/ownership. The Reds owner literally insults the team's own fans before the season and puts no effort into winning and they still draw around 1.5 mil a year. So while I agree Miami would support a consistent winner (definitely more than the Rays fans), it's going to be hard to get them back.

Legit the Cubs were doing that for the last few years, which makes zero sense for a major market team like the Cubs to be doing. I think thats one of the reasons why Len Kasper quit.

So, Anthony Rendon tried to slap a fan for apparently calling him a bitch.
He might not want to go to Yankee Stadium, because if he thinks that was bad, that would be the nicest thing said to him by Yankees fans.

Thought this was just basically the best commercial for baseball I've ever seen.
Turns out its for a Toyota model, but I choose to pretend that's not the case.

I tell you, there shouldn't be any games on Monday, the league should be shut down for the day, or at the very least all day games, if the NBA can have the courtesy to shut down so the NCAA men's championship have the spotlight to themselves, why can't baseball? Same with hockey.

I know its only 2 games into the season, but I think im about done with Cody "6-4-3" Bellinger already which is fast for me and Cubs players. Dude would fare better heading from Addison over to Cumberland and down Higgins and go play for the Chicago Dogs in Rosemont.

I know it is early, I think you have to wait a couple of weeks for teams to get into the flow and find themselves, but the Yankees pitching staff giving up 6 runs to the awful Giants, that is unacceptable. Injuries or no injuries, the Giants are a AAA lineup, you should shut them down easily. But it is only game 2, the first couple of the seasons, it is extended spring training. Maybe if we played the Giants later in the season, things would be different.
