So it's kinda hilarious that WWE's been like pulling teeth trying to make Mustafa Ali The Ultimate Underdog happen to no avail, including tonight, but then Dolph Ziggler gets the exact reaction that they've been trying to get Ali and then some against Austin Theory. What the f*** dude lmao

And it was a really good match too! I've never heard a crowd get that loud for an AUSTIN THEORY false finish in my f***ing life! I never thought I ever would! LET ALONE LIKE 3 OF THEM
I've never been more right about something than I was about Dolph being better as a face. No matter how stale or boring he gets, he always knows how to get the crowds into him. You have to respect that, even if it's fun to dunk on him sometimes.

I genuinely think they should start pushing him again WAY more after tonight. WWE needs more babyfaces that reliably get good reception (or else u get Kross vs. Moss 2, 3, and 4) and Dolph is 1000% that guy.

It's unreal to me how often this guy's had the rug pulled out from under him.

Part of the reason I hate Dolph so much is his ability to make people care about him. It is key to his longevity and is totally how he managed to Mick Foley himself

“OOOOOOOH, if he wasn’t still actually good at his job, maybe I’d finally be rid of him!” *shakes fist*

Exactly! Although I no longer watch WWE so they can do what they like with him tbf

Dolph is one of those guys where when he's not getting TV time, you miss him. He shows up again for a few weeks, cuts a promo like "If I get five seconds or five minutes, I'm that damn good every single time" and then you get excited and go "oh yeah, he IS that good."
Then, after a few weeks you realize he's really only got one character trait - "overlooked" - which gets old after awhile. For whatever reason, the dude doesn't have top guy energy to me, but he's clearly a good babyface. I wouldn't mind seeing more of him, but maybe in a babyface tag team where he could be the hot tag. That feels like it'd be a good role for him now. For instance, I think Gable and Ziggler might be a fun odd couple tag team after this Alpha Academy stuff runs its course.
Ali f***ing sucks. Lol. They’ve been trying to make this dude a thing in like 4 different gimmicks. Enough.
They’ve barely ever tried with Ali. You guys know what that big push actually looks like, and he’s never gotten it. He’s literally the ONLY man on the RAW roster (Dexter Lumis would apply here too, but technically he’s a free agent in kayfabe) to have not won literally any belt or had any accomplishment in WWE, being in that phantom zone of being not good enough for the proper belts, but too good for the 24/7 belt.
Yet here we are, seemingly ready to give Dolph Ziggler another whirl, some 17 years and 800-something TV matches into his career. Nothing against Ziggler, but goddamn, he’s actually won stuff, I’m sure we can spare a couple of months for some kind of proper run with Ali instead.

Winning a belt isn’t the only indication of a push. They’ve repacked Ali a couple of times now, as a face, as a heel and dude just doesn’t have the personality to get anything going. It’s always crickets when he shows up

The guy has a personality and can talk. They just literally don't give him a chance to show it on TV. He's done countless promos on Twitter that show the guy knows how to talk and could be a player in the company.
There was a real chance he was going to be slated for a title match at Mania against Bryan and the crowd seemed ready for it at the time. They've just never let the Ali that you see on other platforms onto TV.
Is he a world champ? Maybe not. But he should be perceived as more of a threat than he is right now. I'm hopeful he tears it up on Friday against Ricochet and can build some momentum off that.
