Bland NWA guy "Rugged" Ronnie Garvin didn't belong in the cartoony WWF. He had his moments. Even as a kid I was fast forwarding through Garvin/Valentine matches. Just two dudes that I couldn’t give two f***s about.

That is true. But in addition he needed money after the collapse of SMW and there were a lot of people he respected working in the WWF offices at the time. Oh yeah I am sure he has plenty of valid reasons for it too but almost all wrestling personalities have had the 'why did they x when they said y?' question thrown at them and the answer is always money because they are carnies and we are marks Cornette is 100% not as bad as his podcast makes him seem, that just makes him the most money so be behaves as virulently as possible Oh yeah. Even people who are far less problematic are lying carnies because they're in the wrestling business.

Stone Cold wrestling in 2002. It really felt like all of his superpowers were gone the second the calendar flipped to 2002

It really felt like all of his superpowers were gone the second the calendar flipped to 2002 It's funny but as my brain likes to do as In falling asleep it runs through random thoughts. One of them last night was trying to pinpoint when The Rock passed Austin as the guy.

Raven in mid-2000s TNA. And I like Raven. But he was so cool and on-the-nose in the 90's. To see him in a promotion that was mostly up and coming wrestlers who actually seemed cool at the time, it was rough to see a 42 year old in eyeliner laying in the corner.

1996 WWF had a few of these Ultimate Warrior, Jake Roberts, Roddy Piper, Marty Jannetty, Ted DiBiase, Jim Neidhart, etc. By this point, they were all in the New Generation and it looked weird having some of these guys around after spending a good chunk of time making fun of the guys like Hogan and Savage for being too old and the people I named were major opponents of those two. I understand why they made the Billionare Ted skits and even as a kid, it backfired and made me flip to WCW on occasions to see them.

He was an absolute sweetheart. It was at Mania Axxess anď he was standing the entire time and standing in front of his table which for someone with his knee issues i thought was really cool. He was doing mock "Too Sweets" if asked, did a big exaggerated finger when asked to dothe Kenny Omega pose, he really put a lot of effort in but always ended the interation with a smile.

Before he was brought back full-time as Viscera, I thought him as King Mabel looked out of place for that one night appearance during the Attitude Era.

Johnny Elite in current AEW was hilarious. Dude looked like a complete freak of nature and not in the cool way.

1993-94 might be the strangest years in WWF history when it comes to this. It’s pretty firmly the era of Bret/Shawn & Taker. But 1993 still had guys like Hulk Hogan Randy Savage as a part time wrestler Big Bossman Ric Flair Ted Dibiase as a wrestler Earthquake Slick Bobby Heenan Gene Okerlund Hell the Bushwackers made it to 1996 All these guys are firmly associated with the classic era of the 80s and early 90s. Bob Backlund, was the only out of place guy who eventually reinvented himself as the crazy old man and he can be associated in the New Generation era. Speaking of Backlund, he was around for a months into the Hogan era. Even had an appearance on Piper’s Pit which is also bizarre to me. Roddy Piper also felt out of place in 1994 when he feuded with Jerry Lawler. He did...though credit Piper he was in the best shape that I ever saw him in for that 94 match with Lawler. But yes he was totally out of place...and that feud itself with Lawler was just gonna be a one off anyway. Wasn't like Piper was coming back and about to commit himself to the squared circle again. He was on the fringes and then left until his next comeback

Any Barry Windham run in WWF. Even his initial run with the tag team titles. He just seems such an NWA/WCW guy.

Can't believe it's been 7 pages and no one mentioned The Ultimate Warrior in WCW. He felt out of place as it was in 1996 WWF, and somewhat in 1992, but in a company that emphasizes workrate over cartoony gimmicks, it just didn't gel. Didn't help matters given the ridiculous over-the-top booking.
