More than the issues of grudges for me is the form that match took. It's one thing to poke fun at Ace Steel biting him and all that, but you're telling me Punk is going to be okay with them goofing on his Buckshot botch? The last time he saw these men Punk literally assaulted them. It's one thing to imagine his anger has come down enough for them to bury the hatchet somehow with a mediator there to encourage everyone to focus on what's most important. But I don't see Punk being so cool with these guys that he'd now be fine with them making fun of him like that. That would be an exceptional turnaround from the worst we've ever seen him be to him being anomalously forgiving . Yeah, the Buckshot botch stuck out to me. Kenny mocking the biting was fair game considering he was the one that got bit. Stealing finishers has been part of wrestling forever too. Mocking a botch/bad execution is a bit more mean spirited and I wouldn't be surprised if Punk didn't see the funny side of that one. Again, I hope Hangman did though. If anyone was asked "hey can we goof on this" it was probably Hangman, honestly.

Honestly the Buckshot is a curse, pretty sure Logan Paul tore his leg apart doing it as well If it becomes a running gag that only Hangman can do this move correctly, fine by me lol

The Elite have always been well... elite at being trolls.
I can't see how it turns into a work. Punk would have to be the heel and what, just gets openly mocked by the Elite while the crowd chant 'f*** CM Punk'? Doesn't seem like a good deal for him.
The Elite won, this is their victory lap.

If this has turned into a work, that's an overplayed hand honestly. If not, it's kind of being a sore winner at this point I don't see how it could have been avoided in Chicago Now if they're doing this in Indy, I think we'll have overstayed the welcome, but in Chicago with that crowd, that's what they wanted to see frankly Ignore the boos like a grown-up. Cena did it for years.

I don't have a problem with them mocking the situation in the match and playing up to the crowd. It's only strange coming on the back of an interview where Kenny tells everyone to move on and forget about it 😂

Cena did it for years. Did he, though? Like, during a time when there was a strictness on talent about how they acted with crowds, Cena was literally the only one allowed to respond to crowds. One of his most enduring traits was conducting the "John Cena Sucks" chants. EDIT: Also, the times when Cena did ignore the crowd (IMO) were terrible because I can imagine a regular viewer or even someone flicking past to go "Why is he being seen as the face when everyone hates him?" which hurts a lot of his legacy to me before they actually decided to embrace it. Now, coincidentally, he gets mega pops when he returns so...

Cena did it for years. I'm calling super cap on this, he did not ignore the boos, he mocked them constantly or they were addressed CONSTANTLY. "How about a little heel turn!" is an actual line he said at one point lol Like it wasn't even a rarity. Half his feuds centered around the fact that he got "controversial" reactions, literally conducting "JOHN CENA SUUUUCKS!" after a point.

Yeah, I don’t quite get the point here. Doing it in front of the crowd is one thing. They’re either working a program with somebody who isn’t coming back or they’re just being unlikeable themselves.

Far as I'm concerned Punk cost them three months of time and their first run with the Trios titles, if they want to be dicks to him let them be dicks to him.

To the crowd thing, did we forget that most of Shawn Michaels' comeback in the 00s consisted of him trolling Montreal over the Screwjob and putting on the Sharpshooter whenever he was there because he was going to get booed anyway?
None of this is new.

None of this is new. No, but Bret couldn’t work by the time Michaels came back. This is a different situation where they may be getting people’s hopes up. It’s not entirely smart from a business standpoint. Personally, it makes me just like the dudes less. I like CM Punk less now, too.

So the Elite are gonna go down 0-3 in this series then win the next 4 aren't they?

Personally, I loved the tribute to KENTA by Omega. Made sense in kayfabe too.

I'm sure one thing FAN can all agree on is that if Punk knows about it, he will have taken it with his usual class and dignity

Well, no, but it still involved provoking an audience and thinking something would happen. Like, what was the business logic of Michaels calling out Bret, having his music play and then bragging that he wasn't here? Especially when he literally turned face seconds later? I'm not justifying it but a lot of people are acting like this is a new thing when it litters the entire history of wrestling. EDIT: And this is coming from the guy whose made it clear he hates worked shoots but, like...it seems to be the way to get buzz for the business at this point. Jade "feuding" with Bow Wow worked a lot of places that should know better.

Why should we be concerned for a second what Punk thought of the match? Punk assaulted the Elite and got them suspended for months and had their titles striped from them as a result, and we're supposed to worry about whether or not Punk disliked the match? As far as I'm concerned, if the Elite want to mock Punk from now until the end of time, they should do it with a huge smile on their face.
