now let's see the same happen with a certain someone running Warner Bros. Discovery. He’s doing exactly what they want. He comes in, hollows out everything to strip down the budget, and that’s the plan.

Chapek has always an unqualified oaf that never should have gotten to sniff being the CEO let alone actually being it. This is Iger coming back to fix collosal giant f***ing mistake to his legacy and again hope he does better at choosing his successor this time. It wont surprise me if there was no big scandal here but he is just a f***ing horrible an unqualified to do this job and they got rid of him before he could do anymore damage. Yeah, my point was going this quickly is either Scandal or the Shareholders are absolutely beyond pissed at Chapek's handling of things. It could easily be the second thing. There was an attempt to oust him a couple of months ago or so by some shareholders pissed at him. But I don't think they had much movement and he survived it at the shareholders' meeting. The board re-upped him after that. That's what makes this so weird. Like, they had their opportunities to get rid of him before through less... frantic-looking means and they kept him on board. Makes me wonder what caused them to reverse course in such a relatively quick way.

I know one of his bigger mess ups was the Star Wars Hotel...they invested a ton of money in it. charged basically 5 star resort prices to stay there... in cramped Cruise ship sized cabins... without the actual amenities of an actual cruise... Also like... if you see it from the outside it's just a giant warehouse looking thing.

If you're going to charge those prices, you have to have the amenities to go along with it. "The experience" only goes so far. And yeah they could've at least tried to make the exterior look like a starship instead of a nondescript white building. >_>

Idk how much of it lead to the final decision, but him spouting off about how Adults don't care about Animation, especially if kids aren't around, had to be a death nail
Disney has so many Teen and Adult fans, some of which are lifetime enjoyers of the product... you don't basically insult all of them in a public setting like that thinking you're making some kind of profound statement. You are the global powerhouse of Animation, you pissed everyone off who watches it, and even more so the people who make the damn shows and films in your own f***ing studio lmfao.

Wow, it’s like Edward John Smith had rammed the Titanic into the iceberg, the ship started to sink and he gave up as captain. Then took over as captain again once the Titanic was on the ocean floor.

It'd be nice if he did some rollbacks on the terrible policies that are making the parks suck but seeing as a lot of the changes were of his vision that's not gonna happen...
Seems like Chapek was more of his fall guy who got a golden parachute to take the heat for him...

Good.
That said, I feel that Disney's streaming service is a giant bubble waiting to pop and that Chapek based on all of his bean counting decisions on keeping D+ alive. Not sure what Iger is going to do here.

Chapek clearly had no idea what he was doing almost immediately.
Dipshit never should have ever been allowed near the position. He should be embarrassed that he even thought he could.

Seems like Chapek was more of his fall guy who got a golden parachute to take the heat for him... Chapek was in charge of the Parks before he became CEO. Granted, Iger and the Board went along with his decisions or didn't actively shoot them down. But the quality of the parks went down when he was in charge and that escalated even more when he ascended to the CEO position. Iger wasn't perfect, but he was generally well respected, if not outright liked, by the creatives (especially animation folks) and a lot of the other people who worked for Disney. Chapek, not so much.

Fiege was literally given the keys to the Marvel kindgom and only ever had to anwser to Iger this is largely why Iger was beloved as he was because he let people do their thing without much interference.
Chapek before his rise to CEO became publicly official was doing the opposite and putting completely unqualified people into positions they did not belong in because they were "his" people.
