Shane's real first playable appearance was WM2000. I like how that looks less like Shane and more like a halfway passable 2004 Orton.

It bugs me that Rock in WM2000 is pretty good, but he turns into this weird caveman for No Mercy, along with Triple H becoming Ma Fratelli from the Goonies.

No Mercy's wrestler faces being weird was likely another sign the game was rushed out too soon back then, along with the data-erase bug.

Maybe, though I also feel like some of it was maybe them going for too much detail for their own good. That said, plenty of the faces were legitimately fine, it's just kind of funny those ones weren't great, or Undertaker looking like he was about to throw up, which, was maybe not entirely inaccurate for 2000 Undertaker, but not flattering.

I didn't play season mode on No Mercy, but loved editing attires to different eras - like Lionheart, Y2J, and SRS Jericho - as well creating loads of others. I think the data erased on me three times in as many weeks before I just lost patience with it. Not played it since.

I manageed to keep it so long that I almost had enough money to unlock "ho" the only thing I had left to unlock... before it wiped on me... I was pissed. It's also one of the reasons I could never consider it the "Best wrestling game ever" despite how fun it was... also now a days it 100% shows it's age in a lot of ways... the mash button to grab briefcase and climb cages especially.

At least the ladder match gives you opportunities to have someone knocked out outside the ring or otherwise let you buy some time. The cage match is much more restrictive. I guess it's better than how in Smackdown 2, you could win ladder matches hilariously easily in exactly the kind of way wrestlers are trying to avoid doing in real life, since you just rocket up the rungs of the ladder and if you're in position, you can easily just nab the belt.

WWF Attitude had an even more outdated roster much like Warzone. The game came out in July of 1999 yet it's roster was missing important stars like The Big Show, Test, & several others. It felt like a late 1998 roster because several stars had an outdated look like Paul Bearer for example who had his undyed hair look he had in 1997-1998 yet in 1999 he had black hair again. & several roster choices were questionable like SGT Slaughter who wasn't even seen much on TV after being dismissed as Commissioner. I felt Vince or Shane should have been included instead. Warzone was delayed a handful of times to perfect the game engine it had as it was made from scratch. It was originally planned for 1997. & was called WWF '98. One of the delays may have been to update the aesthetic to the Attitude Era style as it originally was based more of the New Generation era Not only that, but it also had Dr. Death who barely had any matches with the company.

One I just remembered and felt like bumping the thread for, WWE 2K15. It technically has slightly more people in it than 2K14, but the women's lineup is quite dire and you can't create more (and for some idiot reason they didn't include Paige in the PC version), and even for the standards of these games you get some obscenely unnecessary duplicate characters. Most blatantly there's having two separate mid-2011 Ortons on top of both the modern one and the 2004 one, Sheamus, Alberto, and Mark Henry also each having two 2011 duplicates, two modern versions of Ryback and of each Uso, both 2011 and 2012 versions of Bryan and Punk, and 2011 Big Show, and while it's the game that first introduced NXT content there are only five of them and one is Corey Graves who was basically already retired at that point. On top of all that the midcard was basically completely purged and the only on-disc legends are a bunch of 2002 guys, Rock, Austin, and Ultimate Warrior. Even Edge and Christian were relegated to being DLC. And for that matter they had Sid in the DLC but only as an NPC for some idiot reason, because I guess people don't want to play as Sid but DO want to play as General Adnan.
It's a roster that technically has 114 characters on it, but by the time you take out all the duplicates that number drops to 88. Point of comparison 2K16 without duplicates has 144.

The Ho was the only unlockable I never got. I did manage to get The Rock's insanely expensive shirt and saved it on a caw on memory card so I always had it, but the Ho... got close a couple of times.
