So, this is actually worth watching? Thor: Love and Thunder was a disaster (WHY THE GOATS) and I didn't even bother with Ant-Man 3. I hopefully will get to see this soon. It'll be a very hard watch for me though, the GOTG franchise has a bit of a special meaning to me. This was way better than the last few MCU entries. Excellent movie. It was a tad long, but it really didn't bother me. I was really happy {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}no one was killed off. I was going in prepared for it so it was a nice surprise. {Spoiler}I was happy I was 100% in that prediction honestly.

{Spoiler}no one was killed off. I was going in prepared for it so it was a nice surprise. {Spoiler}This pleases me. "You can't have stakes if nobody dies" is the laziest crutch people lean on when criticising movies and TV, just as giving in to that is the laziest way creatives generate drama. A talented writer/director can create tension and have stakes without killing anybody. Sometimes it's warranted – Yondu's sacrifice, for example, is the perfect ending for GOTGv2 – but most of the time it's the storytelling equivalent of a Ric Flair blade job.

Just got done seeing it. As a point of reference, I liked the first GotG movie but didn't love it, and I didn't have any strong feelings for Vol. 2 one way or the other. Honestly, I wasn't even going to bother with Vol. 3, but some people I know were going to see it, so I followed along on a whim.
Good decision on my part. That movie was freaking amazing! It's the best sci-fi movie I've seen in ages, and I watch a lot of sci-fi movies. I'm definitely going to see it again, probably several times.

Apparently it’s set for around $110 million this weekend, similar to Ant-Man. That’s already kicking off the “THE MCU IS FINISHED!!” choir on some corners of the Internet.
I’m not sure about that but I can definitely see word of mouth about how dark/grim the movie is putting a dent in its family audience.

Just got back from the theater. Couple minor nitpicks, it was a bit gorier then it needed to be at times, but otherwise a really awesome movie that I really enjoyed. Plus... {Spoiler}The REAL Captain Marvel is here! Finally get Phyla-Vell in the MCU! Really hope she resurfaces in a future movie. I certainly wouldn't be against a cameo in The Marvels.

I have a feeling its second week drop-off won't be nearly as drastic as Ant-Man's since the word of mouth so far is a lot better for GOTG3 than it was for that movie.

It sounds weird but in don't know that I want to see it. Its like if I see it, it's done, the series is over but if I don't I can always think it's going to go on some how. Plus I'm in such a depression I don't know I want a downer liker that.

I’m old enough to remember when Spider-Man did over $100 million in a weekend and that was considered an unbelievable achievement. Now C-tier Marvel characters are doing that and it’s seen as a disappointment.

If your movie isn't making Endgame-level money, then you've failed. It doesn't matter if the movies aren't telling Endgame-level stories.

Really enjoyed it with the exception of 1 pivotal moment. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}When Quill gets "frozen" in space but yet ends up surviving is complete and utter bullshit and IMO basically shits on Yondu's death absoloutley hated this.
LOVED the high evolutionary though absoloutley off his cheese wagon with no redeeming quality to his evil and IMO is the best villan the MCU has seen since Thanos , I know Kang is the big bad but holy shit they need to bring back High Evolutionary he was so great at being just the evilest shit head.

It should give Peter a little more durability in space then most.

I get not being connected to the living planet anymore…so he would lose some stuff…but he would still have celestial DNA in him I figured. I wondered if he just lost the connection to the magic and power but would still have the chromosomes thst let him hold the infinity stone as long as he did. Or…survive as long in space as he did the first movie for a more relevant question.

Despite being in a somber mood right now, I really, really enjoyed it. I teared up about 3 times, but to be fair, the franchise holds a special place in my heart. My dad and I both loved the first movie, watched it many times together, while he was battling cancer and he passed about a month after Vol. 2’s release. When “Come and Get Your Love” hit in Vol. 3, I couldn’t hold it in.

I don’t know where it stands as far as ranking the trilogy yet, but that was a damn fine Marvel film. I enjoyed this more than the three MCU entries last year (and I didn’t flat out dislike any of them, but this was bonkers.) {Spoiler}Towards the end when Rocket is rescuing the baby raccoons, that’s when I started to lose it. 😭

How's it stack up to the other two? I really enjoyed those but for some reason really just finding myself with no desire to see this one, kind of wondering if I should anyway or not. Also never watched the Christmas special come to think of it.
