The crowd reactions he has received since returning is far more real than anyone else’s. It’s visceral and comes across the TV (and the times I’ve been in the arena) as truly out of the ordinary. That’s why I will say he’s made it real again. I guess it depends on your definition of "real" in the context of professional wrestling. He's made it "real" in the sense that he has caused a litany of out of the ring bullshit to bleed into the television shows. He's made it "real" in the sense that a large number of fans hate Phil Brooks' guts for being a hypocritical whiny manchild, regardless of how the CM Punk character is portrayed on television, and a large number of fans seemingly love him for constantly antagonizing the people that a certain connoisseur of racket-based sports who fancies himself a cult leader has deemed public enemy number 1. But, he's decidedly not made it "real" insofar as on-screen he's in feuds with Ricky Starks and Samoa Joe, but all of the discussion is about toy sales and him forbidding a pay-per-appearance extra from being in the building. To me, that's the bad kind of "real" in pro wrestling. The Vince Russo kind that had a major hand in the death of WCW. I also don't think any of us take anything in wrestling too seriously. We are all well aware that we are watching a bunch of grown ass men fake fight. Half of the reason I enjoy it so much is because it's goofy, silly, escapism. I just think CM Punk is a giant douche who definitely takes it too seriously. So, I'm going to spend some time ripping on him anonymously on the internet. So what you're saying is you watch pro wrestling ironically. Curious!
I am very intelligent.

Did he forget to mention that Punk was an ECW original as well?

The heat Punk gets is different from other's and while some appreciate it, I'm still convinced that it makes for shitty, unexplainable tv that can never get better. Not by a full blown heel turn, not by a feud with the Elite. It is just the warmed up pipe bomb angle of Phil Brooks talking to Paul Levesque with roles reversed, no Phil Brooks in this scenario and the real life assholery turned up to eleven. I just want wrestling to be wrestlery to the max again.

I believe CM Punk is actually in real life a crap person so bad that I'm not going to watch Collision anymore because don't want to support a show where an egomaniac gets to f*** with the livelihood of other people he doesn't like over petty bullshit. Oh man I'm so worked I'm so owned he got me, this is true wrestling and what wrestling is meant to be. I've been bamboozled by the pepsi man and his master plan. Brother you can be as passive aggressive towards my opinions as you want, but if you don’t see the irony between your ratings threads posts and your posts in this thread, I’m afraid it may have become real. The posts in the ratings threads where I talk about Tony "Dracula" Khan and the vultures circling overhead? The stuff I write like a cackling anime supervillain weirdo to provide some extreme levity that can't possibly be taken seriously because it's going on about f***ing Cocytus and Percy Shelley poems? Dude those posts are meant to be disconnected from reality and even funnier when ratings are up, it's not even meant to satirize a Type of Guy, ratings threads just sometimes get locked because of people arguing so I go on and say weirdo shit that sounds like I'm typing it while hitting thunderclap noises on a soundboard to sound ominous. It breaks up the contentious stuff with a reliable dumb idea that people engaged with enough for me to find the crumbs of validation I need to keep spinning on a dumb joke every week. That you see any connection between things I say here and a shitpost gimmick where I once warned about "The Ragnarok of cancellation" says things only about you.

Was Jack Perry ever on collision or was it something outside of collision? He hasn't wrestled on the show but I imagine they were both around at the same time when Collision took place in Toronto the night before Forbidden Door.

If it turns out that Punk took exception to Jack Perry, whose current gimmick is being a disrespectful brat, pitching doing or saying something disrespectful about some veteran that Punk loves then it's official. He has become the Undertaker.

There was another issue with an AEW talent that CM Punk brought face-to-face.
Towards the start of Punk’s AEW Collision run, during the Canada tapings, Jungle Boy Jack Perry was brought to Collision to film a segment, and the two had words about the plans that Perry was supposedly pushing.
According to those on the side of Punk, Perry wanted to use real glass for a backstage segment. Punk was of the belief that he did this so he didn’t need to come to work the next week, which he sees as a big problem in the company.
Per Punk’s side of things, Perry was going against production, doctors and Tony Schiavone advising him not to do it and them telling him that smashing real glass was a safety hazard, and Perry wasn’t happy with that. Shortly after, there were guidelines put in place and forwarded to talent of things that required clearance.
Punk’s claim was that he was asked to step in and calmly said that they don’t do that on Saturdays (for Collision) and if he doesn’t like it, he could stay on Wednesdays. Word of the situation had made its way around the locker room, and was referred to as an argument. Punk's claim was that Perry was throwing a temper tantrum over the spot not being cleared and people trying to prevent it.
We reached out to Jack Perry but did not hear back.
We weren't told how the situation ended, but several that we heard from agreed with the stance Punk at least claimed.
Fightful

There's no reason Perry or anyone in AEW should be using real glass for anything. The phrasing as like "We don't do this on Saturdays and if you don't like it go to Wednesday" is f***ing dumb though and just like, generally the kind of territorial preening that's clearly going to make things worse. "Hey you need to listen to the doctors about this, this is a really bad idea and we can't let this happen" could go a lot further and that's the kind of meeting-someone-on-their-level shit that actual leadership might call for. Not a bad intention but absolutely did not need the dick waving if that's how it went down.

This is definitely a "he was right but still acted like a jerk about it" thing. Because using real glass in any wrestling spots is really stupid.

Using real glass is f***ing stupid and I'm glad people (including Punk) put their foot down over that.
Even when he's right though, Punk still sounds like an asshole. I don't think he has the people skills to be the kind of leader he wants to be.

But yes, the idea of Tony Khan with like cheap fangs swishing around a cape is a hard mental image not to enjoy.

This is definitely a "he was right but still acted like a jerk about it." Because using real glass in any wrestling spots is really stupid. The whole "we don't do that on Collision" aspect of it smacks of being a backhanded jab at Moxley, who I am certain Punk has pent up bad blood with for the "fragile body, fragile ego" promo, but who he wouldn't dare actually call out.

Mox is also angry about the glass situation but just because he wanted to use it.
