Punk Scrum Thread II: Punk terminated from AEW

We're hearing word that the reason Hangman Page wasn't allowed at Collision is because Dory Funk Jr. was visiting backstage. He was known as the masked Hangman for a bit in the 80s. Collision has a strict "No Hangmen" policy. Since one was already there, Page was asked to leave.


We're now hearing word that Dory was actually known as The Outlaw during the 80s and not the Hangman as previously reported.


We're now hearing that Dory Funk Jr was never in attendance backstage at Collision but it was actually a mop leaning up against a wall.

I do tend to believe all the shit that has come out the last few days if I really had to choose but I was thinking about it, if it’s all true where are the real locker room leaders?

Like are there no veterans standing up to this guy and saying hey, pick on someone with the same stature in the company? Is it really the Wild West and people are afraid to or is some of this not true?

I have a hard time believing some vets aren’t sick of this shit and not a fan. They’re not gonna be taken for their word over punk with Tony but you’d think someone like a sting, jericho or moxley would’ve stood up by now and said bitch naw if most of this was true.

Come to think of it, is there any point in recent years that either of them have referred to the other as friends? They certainly had that vibe in their ROH era shoots, but I don't get that sort of chumminess from either of them anymore (that and I feel like 2023!Punk is incapable of being chummy anyway).

Joe does seem like the sort of person who would get sick of Punk's BS though, and it's really no hair off his back if Punk never wants to work with him again because he's Samoa F'n Joe. Now I'm wondering how much of Joe's recent heel promos in Punk's direction have that sort of underlying annoyance to them... Or if he might have been ever so slightly snug when choking out Punk at the end of Collision last week.

I mean, if Punk has the power to ban the Head of Talent Relations from tapings, then he has the power to get rid of any vets that disagree with him. Like, is it worth potentially starting drama with Punk when you already know Tony's just gonna side with him?

And, if we're being completely honest with ourselves here, there's probably a lot more "he's not doing it to me, so why does it matter?" going on in the lockerroom than we'd like to admit.
