Honestly, even if you’re a Punk fan you’d have to be OK with this being the end for him. He went out on a banger with his biggest rival on the indies in a giant stadium on AEW’s biggest show. He can’t get out of his own way, but there’s at least a decent end to the book if that’s it. I’ve got a lot of conflicting feelings about him lately but I think if that’s it, he had a good one on the way out. For sure. He's obviously not going to get what he wants (which is The Elite, MJF, or both playing ball and doing a program with him), so at this point all he's going to do is continue hurting his legacy by pushing forward when he's clearly not enjoying himself. Seems best for everyone involved for to just cut losses and move on. “Move on” is not in that man’s wheelhouse. |

If he is done after this, what a sad end. At least with the bullshit last year you could say "damn, he f***ed up big, but at least he had one hell of a year in his return." But this one? No. Collision has been mid. His return promo was lifeless. His "real world champ" angle? Trash. He had some good matches against Kojima, Joe, and Starks, but everything else has been just there.
I honestly wish he would just stop trying to change the place and just put on good storylines and matches like before he won the world title. This overly aggro shit feels like he's taking the first half of his WWE run out on the younger kids and is flabbergasted as to why they're not taking it on the chin like he did in WWE.
The man had AEW in his hand, his own TV show to run wild with, a Booker that is infatuated with him, a company that put him on a pedestal and he pissed it away because he was insecure and paranoid. WWE will never give him that time of day, TK owns ROH, New Japan won't give him a fraction of what he's been given. Only NWA would and that's a massive step down for him.

It was one of the reasons I liked him so much. He always presented himself as someone willing to stand up to the Undertakers and JBLs of the world. With the caveat that, of course, none of us actually know the man personally and all we really have to go on is second and third hand information provided by carny journalists covering a carny industry, everything that has ever come out about Punk since his falling out with Colt has made it clear to me that he wasn't standing up to the Undertakers and JBLs of the world as much as he was jealous of them. He never wanted to end the bullying, he just wanted to be the bully. I think that's why Hangman, seemingly innocuously and as part of an angle, questioning Punk's status as a champion of "worker's rights" triggered him so badly and was the catalyst to all of this. That jab seems to have forced him to have to do some introspection that he clearly did not actually want to do, and here we are. |

If Punk is outta here then good riddance. Dude was f***ing shit up and only made the company overall worse.
