Punk gets suspended, and shows up at the next taping anyways and lifts his own suspension since he runs the company apparently! Meanwhile Tony is chanting CM Punk.

100% I used to think that Punk was a key catalyst in the changing of the overall "wrestling culture" backstage. It was one of the reasons I liked him so much. He always presented himself as someone willing to stand up to the Undertakers and JBLs of the world. 

With the caveat that, of course, none of us actually know the man personally and all we really have to go on is second and third hand information provided by carny journalists covering a carny industry, everything that has ever come out about Punk since his falling out with Colt has made it clear to me that he wasn't standing up to the Undertakers and JBLs of the world as much as he was jealous of them. He never wanted to end the bullying, he just wanted to be the bully. I think that's why Hangman, seemingly innocuously and as part of an angle, questioning Punk's status as a champion of "worker's rights" triggered him so badly and was the catalyst to all of this. That jab seems to have forced him to have to do some introspection that he clearly did not actually want to do, and here we are. 

I've always felt like Punk has parts of himself he's made peace with and is maybe even proud of, the parts of him that he's integrated into his character, but then there's the truths about him that he doesn't like admitting. The Eddie feud had the two cutting each other down with a whole lot of stuff and Punk didn't bat much of an eye over him. He's a prick? Yeah. Self-righteous? Absolutely. Ego monster? Of course he is. He's owned up through his career to belonging to a subculture renowned for being preach judgy assholes who believe themselves morally superior. That's not going to own him. He'll nod along and agree.

But sometimes, comments shine a light on the parts of him that actually tap on something he's insecure about. Punk wants to be the respected locker room leader elder statesman, so what are his trigger points? It's accusations he's throwing his weight around to get guys he beefs with bumped out, because Punk knows guys who do that are typically seen as the bad guys in history. It's the claim that the stuff he puffs himself up over believing aren't things he practices, because the value he weighs in his convictions is important to his pride. It's challenges to his authority, because Perry bragging on about the glass spot undermines Punk's leadership in open rebellion and it's not very punk rock to tell someone telling you what to do to go f*** themself. It's saying he's a soft baby man on twitter, because he's not, he's a cool tough guy who is "working" against people who won't talk to him. For all he claims to wear his faults on his sleeve, there's a lot of faults that will set him off into a rage, and I don't think it's a coincidence that all of them are the ones that undermine or question the persona he's built up.

Considering everything that is going on, it is fair to say that Punk’s future with AEW, and pro wrestling in general, appears to be questionable because certain people backstage keep making Punk look bad by picking fights with him and leaking the resulting fallout to the dirtydirtysheets. I'm now wondering if TK's big second chances speech at the scrum and how hard it was to come back from the difficult summer was thinly veiled talk about Punk. I wouldn't expect TK to be super mad at his fav but if everyone else who let him down used their second chances to the fullest while Punk just farted around and violently wasted the opportunity I could see that being massively disappointing to him.

Honestly, I just came back into this thread hoping to find out any update between this weekend's incident. Wasn't planning on saying much, if anything, but I had to make this comparison. Seriously, WTF is going on anymore haha.

Even if Punk isn't suspended and Punk still wants to come back to AEW, his status for All Out would be in doubt. TK confirmed that they are investigating the situation which could take longer than a week.
