Conrad's been angling for a Punk podcast since the week after Brawl Out happened last year when he started lamenting unprompted on Foley's podcast how "Punk's just passionate, he's being treated unfairly." If I were Foley I would have never did another podcast with him again lmfao, dragging me into that shit like that. Foley gets 6-figures from it and is the worlds cheapest man. I think he's fine

Where in the hell did the whole “Meltzer is in the Bucks’ pocket” narrative come from? Like, I made the joke several hundred pages back that they named a move after him so CLEARLY he must be doing their bidding, but some people seem to really believe it. I never really cared too terribly much for the Bucks. They kind of have a smarmy holier than thou vibe. But my God, the way people have tried to vilify them for literally doing nothing throughout this whole saga is making me a fan of theirs by default. Honestly ever since Dave ranked Kenny and the Bucks matches so highly years ago, pretty much every Cornette fan, Russo fan, Disco Inferno fan (they give anybody a podcast don't they geez), and literally anybody else who doesn't like wrestling today or calls them all 'soft' or how things need to be like they were in the 80s/90s constantly goes "THE ELITE HAVE MELTZER SMEAR LIES ABOUT PEOPLE WE LIKE". Like it can't just be someone you like is an asshole, no there needs to be a big shadowy agenda to make everyone I dunno..like matches with a bunch of flips I guess?

I think he's fine He's also a guy who has tolerated Russo's presence at various points, though I have no idea if they talk anymore and he has always firmly said Russo's ideas often generate no money and only pissed off fans and advertisers for no benefit, like the Mark Henry/Chyna angle. He compartmentalizes a lot.

I think being a successful pro wrestler in general requires you to compartmentalize a lot. It's a pretty scummy industry.

I think he's fine I'm sure he still didn't like to be used as a soap box for Conrad's shit. Do it on your own time or at least ask Mick if it's ok it just seems really shitty.

Doesn’t have to be from bucks directly, could be from their camp. Also, realized quickly I cannot say anything that isn’t Pro Dave or Pro Elite (I like them btw, have liked and followed them since I would watch them live in PWG) in this area. Anyway, my point was that there are different sides to the story based on who you hear it from. Punks gone, AEW had a good show in a moment where they needed it, and hopefully they can figure out this backstage stuff (like what does Perry gain from saying stuff on TV? For someone that fans wouldn’t get without context?) so they can move past the diversions and grow as a company. I’m going to step outside now.

Really don't like seeing that from a *mod* 😬
is it truly time for our every 400 page-ish tradition of a mod coming in and saying things that me uncomfy or am I just being a hypocritical bitch stewing in my idiocy again

It's doubly funny because wrestling is physical theater and comedy has always been a part of it. The whole concept of 'heel come-uppance' lives by it and you can even find certain managers who loudly hate comedy doing pratfalls. Even putting aside Ric Flair's crazy promos and him having meltdowns where he elbow drops his own jacket, the Flair flop is a comedy spot. A little bit of slapstick went a long way in building up the legacy of of one of the consensus greats. It's just such a narrow-minded angle that doesn't even track, historically. Viscous southern heel Arn Anderson had some great comedy spots. Dusty Rhodes' style always had an element of comedy. And if funny can't draw money, why did people pay to see Bobby Heenan get destroyed? And that guy got praised by 4 of the best workers(Nick Bockwinkel, Bret Hart, Ray Stevens & Ric Flair) for it. "Funny don't draw money" just means total comedy acts like The Bushwhackers, The Blue Meanie, or babyface Doink the Clown have to be used as filler, not in the upper card or main event. It doesn't mean wrestlers with credibilty can't ever do anything funny. It stems from the fact that in the Memphis territory, the intense, serious angles/characters drew money while goofy acts getting too much focus would lead to a downturn in business.

We need to start a “Hard kayfabe” thread or two. Any and all discussion is only allowed if it’s within the context of the television shows as nominally presented by WWE or AEW. No outside bullshit, take it at face value or get out. It's been almost three years since I pitched a weekly rewatch LARP thread of Wrestling Society X where we all have to pretend it's 2006 and each have to play an era-appropriate stereotype under punishment of suspension for posting out-of-character in the thread, and like. The offer is still open. We can still do this. I call being hyper obnoxious Fullmetal Alchemist fangirl who insistently refers to them as Edo and Alu.

Nah, this whole statement is very out of pocket from a Mod. Like seriously, this has happened more than once in this thread, and it's not funny, it's a bit concerning how snide more than one person with power has been to the users in this thread. Not saying everyone in here is perfect or has been perfect but like... this ain't cool. "Oh I forgot can't say anything bad about the Elite or Meltz!" Like yes you can and people have on this Board dozens upon dozens of times. Sorry you get disagreed with when stuffs literally been proven incorrect or people don't fall in that line with how you feel about it? It's a bad look from someone who has the power to ban people from the site. And once again I have to ask why the f*** does it even matter? Why are we bringing up stuff last year to dunk on Meltzer when the stuff right now is all from CM Punk's side constantly funneling in to guys like Conrad and Hausman blatantly to try and spin stories in his direction and make everyone else look bad? There might be two sides to a story but when the one side keeps changing the story and is currently the only one jabbing, and we already have a definitive statement from the boss backed by legal committee, forgive me if I'm less inclined to believe what's being said from one party. And I need to say this again, you guys are Mods, you're supposed to keep the order of this place, you could have made that entire statement without swiping at everyone in here and making it come off like they can't be reasoned with because "They like the Bucks or Meltzer", and it's just not great coming from a long time user of this board.

"It's CM Punk vs The Elite!" people say as The Elite continue to not have given Punk any form of attention in months, and the only person who has given it that attention publicly and to the sheets is CM Punk, clearly making it a harrowing double sided war. The only Us vs Them happening in this situation is just how many people in the IWC have a singular braincell it feels like, vs the ones who have just finally given up on never having one.

So on 83 weeks Conrad made sure to say that he was told by someone close to the situation that he was told to say Dave Meltzer is a liar when it comes to how things went down for Punk. Hausmann retweeted the article talking about what was discussed which is made even funnier by the fact that Bischoff rips on both him and Meltzer during the show. Wiat hold on I'm having trobule following this. Conrad was told by someone that they were told to say Meltzer is a liar? Someone said to Conrad, essentially, "Dave Meltzer is a liar and make sure you mention that I said that." It was odd because Conrad is always very defensive of Meltzer when Bischoff or Prichard accuse Meltzer of lying.

you have one guy where the owner of the company felt like he had to put out a public statement where he said he felt like his life and his productions staff lives were in danger, people who do not rub oil over themselves to do silly shit in a ring but are simply going to work.
then you have a group of people who might be immature and may have talked shit to reporters but those reporters have constantly said that they haven’t.
if you can’t see the difference I don’t know how you don’t run into the ring trying to hit everyone with chairs at every live event you go to.

Man I get wanting to say bad things about Dave and the elite when they are popular, I try not to argue when it's just I don't like their style or personality.
But " THEY ARE LEAKING TO MELTZER " with no proof besides wishfull thinking because you need to be correct or justified in your dislike/critic is not the take for it.

Criticizing Meltzer’s credibility on 83 Weeks is particularly funny considering Bischoff has less credibility than anyone on earth and sometimes claims the total opposite of what he said in the past. Bret Hart was never a draw so I paid him $3 million a year to be a draw on Thunder is my favorite Bisch gem.

the other guy was right, you say anything anti elite or against meltzer in here and get jumped on.
same elite that said they didnt want drama then went and mocked punk in match with clothesline spot.
same elite that straight away go on BTE and do a pepsi thing.
punk right they are children and no way should be evp when active.
il get jumped on now for expressing my opinion by people who just dont like punk.
and if you think bucks and meltzer dont have relationship then i have magic beans to sell you

So am I "pro Elite" because I think being tacky and obnoxious is not even vaguely equivalent to assaulting people?!
