People are saying they can't buy MJF losing the title anytime soon and obviously for most of Roman's reign not many people thought he was losing any of those matches.
Even as a kid I usually always had a good idea who was going to win and it was rare to genuinely have like a 50/50 match that kept me guessing.
If I was a smark/hardcore fan at the time I would have known about Rock going away to film The Scorpion King and it being in Texas should have also swung it in Austin's favor but watching Wrestlemania X7 live I had no idea who was winning that match and didn't see the heel turn coming.
John Cena v Triple H at Wrestlemania 22. Cena was the new face of the company but HHH is HHH and hadn't been champion in a while plus was teasing a face turn. I thought this match was a toss up at the time.
Roman v Drew at Clash at the Castle. Call me naive but I thought Drew might win for the big UK pop then Roman would win it back a month or two later. Roman winning also wouldn't be shocking though. I was on edge towards the end unsure how it was going to go and was pretty deflated when Drew lost.

Cena/Punk at MITB 2011. I wasn't sure WWE had the cajones to actually go through with a Punk win
Orton/Jinder at Backlash 2017. On one hand, no way would Jinder Mahal become WWE Champion. On the other hand...why else would they suddenly rocket him to a PPV World Title Match?

Watching Wrestlemania 23, I really thought Shawn had a chance at defeating Cena.
This was pre-IWC for me, so I didn't know that HBK allegedly didn't really want to be world champion during his comeback run, or that they're not gonna have their new top guy lose that soon to a veteran.
Cena was my guy, but I was rooting for the old Showstopper that night.

Cena/Miz at Mania 27 did honestly feel like it could have gone eithe3r way. Miz going over was a possibility (especially given the Rock's presence) but Cena picking up the victory to have the big championship staredown with the Rock was something in the back of my head until the finish occurred.

Austin vs Rock at Wrestlemania X-7 was a difficult one. You could make the case for either man winning given their respective popularity.
HBK vs HHH at Armageddon 2002. I thought Shawn was winning this one, so seeing Trips win the title back was a surprise.
John Cena vs Edge on multiple occasions considering how they traded victories back & forth in their rivalry.
Cena vs Punk at MITB 2011. Although Punk's pipebomb & the teased departure made things A LOT more interesting, we were still in the Super Cena era.

Roman v Drew recently. Being there live I had hyped myself up for Drew winning (maybe letting my heart win over my head I don’t know).
The 6 man HIAC as well. Most people I spoke to at school thought Austin or Rock was winning. I genuinely didn’t think Angle would retain at all. No one was picking Rikishi though of course!

I fully believed Drew had the best chance of winning the title off Roman, it must have been awkward asf in the crowd with him singing like a chump after losing such a big title match. Another one for me was RVD vs. John Cena at ECW One Night Stand 2, I wanted RVD to win but was convinced they would have Cena go over. |

- Brock vs Cena Noc 2014 there was the fear they would let Cena win the Rematch, thankfully they weren't that brainless but i still hate the rematch.
- Brock vs Roman WM 31 i thought a Roman win was still pretty possible. The Rollins Cash In didn't really shock me but the fact he cashed in at Mania at not the Raw after was a bit unexpected.

That's not entirely a bad thing, but it is what it is. |

Bryan Vs Cena Summerslam 2013
Moat recent ones I can think of was Hangman Page vs Punk to which I as on the edge of my seat watching because that truly felt like it could have gone either way. Khan already seemed to have it planned out who was next after Page so would Tony nix those Plans in favor of a white hot Cm Punk who had so much momentum that he seemed equally logical to put the belt on. To this day I still maintain this was the most unpredictable AEW title match they had and it truly felt it could go either way. The other Example is Roman vs Drew at clash. It seemed like Roman wouldn't lose it at this point at any place other then WrestleMania yet clash felt big enough to where that might possibly be the place. Drew felt like one of the three people that I could actually see taking the belt off of Roman (Cody and Bron Breaker being the other two) and I thought maybe WWE give him his WrestleMania moment here since Covid robbed him of it a few years ago against Lesnar.
This one might be a subversion but Brock vs Roman at WrestleMania 34 where it seemed so painfully obvious Roman was going to beat Brock but then he lost clean as a sheet and what was basically damn near a squash match. I was there live and I was totally shocked and at the same time this was back when Roman was unbearable as a face, so it was actually awesome to see Lesnar basically destroy him.
