87. Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
It's a pretty decent quickie time killer, main reason I got around to replaying it. Not really like super fond of it, but it is a fun way to eat up some time and I do definitely appreciate aspects of it like its heavily themed levels and more variable boss fights than are usual for this series even nowadays, much less when it came out.

Super Meat Boy (PS4)
Despite being around for over a decade, I only recently heard of this game when I looked for some modern retro platformers to play. And it certainly didn't disappoint.
Finished the game with both the end and the real end. Basically, I was in a sort of completionist mood when playing this game so I 100%ed each chapter before moving on. It was a really fun experience (though some levels left me feeling with a sense of "Never again...never again" as well as dropping some f-bombs and knee slaps) and if anyone is looking for a challenging platformer, this is one to definitely get.
Will come back to it now and then since I still have the bonus chapter "Cotton Alley" to finish as well as the hard-as-hell glitch levels but now focusing on some other games to beat first.

Homefront: The Revolution A basic-as-it-gets FPS, but one I had a lot of fun with. Too often feels underdeveloped and half-finished, but there's enough neat little touches to keep me playing.

88. Fire Emblem Warriors
Been feeling like returning to it for awhile, but while playing through the story again kind of realized why I stopped. Sooner or later pretty much every Warriors game kind of reaches the point of, "I'm grinding for the sake of grinding by now, there's nothing that's really actually a threat to me anymore, but the game's way too long and grinding to ever actually restart," so you just kind of get tired of it, and that's pretty much where I'm at on FEW. Have had a lot of fun with it but not sure how much more there is for me to really get out of it at this point, especially when I own four other Warriors games on the Switch anyway including another Fire Emblem one.

8. Resident Evil 4 (2023) (Xbox Series X, physical), plus the Separate Ways DLC
Great game, never played the original but ended up getting this for free. The first battle at the village square kicked the crap out of me, so I ended up having to drop down to Assisted, but actually Assisted was the right difficulty for me. Enjoyed it so much I decided to get the Separate Ways DLC and I just beat that this morning.
As they were on sale, bought the 2&3 remakes as well.

89. Star Fox 64
Ordered an N64 controller for my Switch and it arrived today, and naturally I wanted to give it a good run. Game really does feel a lot more fun playing it with the proper controller, though you still really feel the difficulty spike on Venom.

20. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Thanks to reading the MGS4 novel recently (which I bought back in May), I have been on a Metal Gear kick. I would have played MGS4 but I lost my copy. I don't know what happened to it but I did order a replacement copy. Until it comes, I decided to play this. I have the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PS3. I also have the PS2 version of MGS3 Subsistence but I decided to play it on the PS3.
Still a classic game. Good storytelling (even then, that's pretty much what the games are known for) and still good gameplay, along with stunning visuals and a great soundtrack. It still holds up after all these years. However, I am glad I still have the PS2 version because it has the "Snake vs. Monkey" mini-game and the Duel Mode.

4. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered
I can see now why I never finished the original version. The final boss of the main story is a trick-spamming asshole. The guide I used recommended mid-60's to take it on. I'm nearly 15 levels above that and still had problems, so I can't even fathom doing it at what was recommended.

15. Escape from Monkey Island Not actually completed this one before thanks to a scratched disc. Going back to it now, it's not aged great, especially compared to the others. One of those series that didn't make the jump to 3D work.
Oh, and I also ran into a game breaking bug right near the end of the game and had to track down another save.

90. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Game I've played many times, last time a couple of years ago, but this run was still kind of remarkable for a few reasons. First time I've played the N64 version since the 3DS one came out, first time I've done it on the Switch (previously had only played this particular one on the Wii), and first time actually playing it with an N64 controller.
You do kind of miss some of the conveniences from the 3DS one but this game doesn't feel like as much of a step backward to play this version of as Ocarina of Time does, probably due to a mix of a lot of the 3DS changes being for the worse and MM having fixed some of the issues with OoT in the first place, felt very fun revisiting this particular version. I had an in-progress playthrough of Wind Waker that was going before my focus shifted to this one so that might stall that out for a bit, but would like to try and do it soon. And maybe Ocarina of Time, I dunno.

9. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade
This is the Yuffie DLC. I found the first chapter more interesting than the second chapter but overall, it was fun.
10. Detective Pikachu Returns
Is it a particularly good game? Not really. It's very much aimed at a younger audience and has the difficulty level, graphics, and short length to show that. Did I have fun playing it? Yes. It's super cute and there's a few especially fun sections. It is very short though so I'd probably wait until it's on one of the very, very rare sales.

Ape Escape 1.
I knew of the Ape Escape games for some time, mostly for the Metal Gear crossover, but did not take the plunge till yesterday when I learned they were collect-a-thons which are my jam! Took a bit to get used to the controls, which when I did was mostly smooth sailing outside of some difficulty spikes near the end, particularly the final level which was a gauntlet. Not too enthused about the boss battles the game had, preferred the normal stage gameplay which was fun.
Game had a lot of charm, particularly in the monkeys themselves who had various names, descriptions and small behaviours to themselves which made the whole collectinf them business fun, combined with fantastic soundtrack, good graphics and a fun terrible dub.

91. Banjo-Kazooie
First time beating it actually, it's a game I've tried to get into multiple times over the years including renting it back in the day but never really been able to develop a taste for it. Finished it this time around, including getting all of the Jiggies and music notes, and certainly had fun, though still can't really claim to be in love with it exactly, think it's kind of a bit too obtuse and cluttered at points and in particular the castle layout and the music notes are just giant pains to deal with.
Not really sure if I'm going to check out Tooie or not. I own both games on the Xbox - though I was playing the N64 version on the Switch in this case - so it's certainly in the realm of possibility to do so, but while I did have fun I'm not really dying for more right this moment. Maybe some other time or if they also eventually put it up on the Switch or something, I dunno.

92. Way of the Samurai
Kind of just decided to do a run of it on a whim but always a game I love going back to, would buy it in an instant if they ever did a Switch port. It's a janky, clumsy game that doesn't communicate things very well but it's just so damn charming and fun about it.

93. Batman: Arkham Asylum
Kind of been meaning to replay it for a long time and since it's a pretty quick run anyway hey, might as well knock it out before Spider-Man. Did make me want to also try doing a run of City afterward, and I've been meaning to dig into Origins again for awhile as well for that matter, so we'll see how that goes I guess. You do kind of miss some of the gameplay improvements of City playing this one again but it's still a lot of fun and I do think it pretty handily wins on atmosphere. Hell of a game in either case.
For the record I got the Croc ending this time around.

I beat Starfield, it was alright but at a certain point I just felt like I'd seen enough of it, so I kinda just dropped everything else and steamrolled through the last few chapters of the main quest. TBH my main criticism of the game has nothing to do with loading screens or dated gameplay or whatever else people were complaining about. I just think the world presented in the game is very bland and doesn't really reward digging deeper to learn more about it. The best sci-fi is overflowing with imagination and new ideas, this genre is a goldmine of creativity, but this game is almost totally devoid of it.
Almost every character you meet looks, talks and acts like someone from the present day real world, the different cities just feel like pastiches of cities from other media. The cyberpunk city is called 'Neon', the vacation planet is called 'Paradiso', the 'space cowboys' actually live and act like old-timey cowboys for whatever reason, and walking around New Atlantis just feels like exploring a big present-day shopping mall. Nothing feels new or creative, I'm just baffled that in a genre that sets no limits on your creativity when world-building, and with the huge budget they had, this is the best they could come up with. It's like the gaming equivalent of someone walking into a huge kitchen stocked with every ingredient and every cooking implement you could possibly imagine, endless recipes on the wall, and with all that available to them they just make a solitary piece of buttered toast and call it a day.

21. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
I am still on a Metal Gear kick at the moment. I went through the story but skipped only some cutscenes. I might go through it again on different difficulties to collect the dog tags. The game still holds up but there are aspects of it that date it, like manual saving.
Now that I got MGS4 in the mail, I am wondering if I should do that or Peace Walker. I might finally play MGSV (both games) soon.

94. Kirby: Star Allies
Kind of felt in the mood to play something light and quick and figured hey, might as well do a rush through of this one, only played through it the one time right when it first came out. Do have to say I did kind of more understand why this entry can be derided by some people playing it again, since even by Kirby standards it's very short and easy, the boss fights aren't really anything special, and its level design can be rather bland. Still, it was fun as a way to on and off kill a few hours and that's what I wanted out of it so fair enough I guess, it's a decent little way to unwind.
