Nagata Yuji te amo, love him just showing up in another promotion and shitting on the ace and taking their title again like he did in NOAH. He also joins the elite club of GHC/IWGP/TC holders becoming the 5th. I’m just sad we didn’t get the Nagadance this time. Off of the top of my head, it's him, Mutoh, Kensuke Sasaki, and Kojima. Who is the fifth?

Do wonder what Finlay is doing now after what he did.
Kevin Knight made a challenge to Sabre as well.

I know I'm not the first person to make this observation but, I'm always amused by Okada being the guy tributing Inoki when he looks and wrestles like something out of 80s All Japan.
The more I watch him, the more I believe the best comparison for him is Jumbo Tsuruta.

I love Nagata but, taking the Triple Crown title off of Miyahara just days away from the Mutoh retirement show is the kind of braindead and counterproductive decision I'd expect from modern-day All Japan. What's espeically funny is how Miyahara had just formed a new unit with the purpose of defending AJPW from outsiders, then within two weeks, both of their title holders lose to outsiders. That's such a modern All Japan thing to do. Not to mention the All-Asia tag titles being on NOSAWA Rongai and Kendo Kashin first, and then on Yoshitatsu and ATSUSHI ONITA.

Tatsu's in his mid 40's which is still manageable, but Onita's 65.

It makes sense. If newbies are watching for Mercedes, then a reliable main event is a good first impression, even if it's the kind of thing Tanahashi and Okada could almost do in their sleep. I did pop for the dropkick counter to the High Fly Flow. The Pillman Counter has always been one of my favorites.

Nagata at 54 is the oldest to have ever win The Triple Crown Championship.

The Dream Team versus Bishamon has been announced for the anniversary show.
After years of fantasy booking Okada winning the tag belts with Yoshi-Hashi, it'd actually be quite amusing for Okada to just beat him for them instead.

AZM from Stardom (who Mercedes previously said she wanted to face) challenged Mercedes Mone for the IWGP Women's Championship at today's Stardom press conference. She's not winning that but it would be a moral victory to get her to say her name right.

Yuji Nagata is an all-time favourite of mine (and with the strongest Twitter game in the business outside Nyla Rose) but I have to question this decision. I get that AJPW is WAY past the glory years & they’re trying to generate interest with an outsider angle but surely having your top guy jobbing to a battle dad who barely features on NJPW cards anymore just makes your whole roster look incredibly weak? Again, I love the dude & I’m happy for his continued success but this role would surely be better suited to a perennial NJPW contender, or maybe someone who’s almost there but needs a little extra push? I’m thinking maybe SANADA or someone in a similar position… not like they’re doing anything meaningful with him right now.

I’m thinking maybe SANADA or someone in a similar position… not like they’re doing anything meaningful with him right now. I kind of wonder if the idea was, "He's never had the Triple Crown before, if he wins this, he'll have won the big three, that'd be something." Like, just them wanting to acknowledge him and to get him on their champions list. I also don't know if the idea is not wanting their champion getting punked by Okada, so if he's ultimately losing that feud, he can win it back off of Nagata later so it'll be a victory to build him back up. That, or maybe he's to transition the belt onto someone else. Either way, there are reasons they could be doing it, even if it does also ultimately seem like an attention-grabbing gamble, like when NOAH put the GHC on Mutoh. At least Nagata moves better than Mutoh does.
