AZM from Stardom (who Mercedes previously said she wanted to face) challenged Mercedes Mone for the IWGP Women's Championship at today's Stardom press conference. She's not winning that but it would be a moral victory to get her to say her name right. That should be a fun match.

Just hope this isn't a case of her having to slow down for Mone like I see some takes calling for....if Mone is gonna step up her game I wanna see AZM blitz her and Mone try and step up her game to match her. Just this little sprint between SLK and AZM is enough to be like.....Mone you will have no choice but to step it the f*** up because I do not want AZM slowing down for you.

Nagata Yuji te amo, love him just showing up in another promotion and shitting on the ace and taking their title again like he did in NOAH. He also joins the elite club of GHC/IWGP/TC holders becoming the 5th. I’m just sad we didn’t get the Nagadance this time. Yuji Nagata is an all-time favourite of mine (and with the strongest Twitter game in the business outside Nyla Rose) but I have to question this decision. I get that AJPW is WAY past the glory years & they’re trying to generate interest with an outsider angle but surely having your top guy jobbing to a battle dad who barely features on NJPW cards anymore just makes your whole roster look incredibly weak? Again, I love the dude & I’m happy for his continued success but this role would surely be better suited to a perennial NJPW contender, or maybe someone who’s almost there but needs a little extra push? I’m thinking maybe SANADA or someone in a similar position… not like they’re doing anything meaningful with him right now. This seems more to me like it was done for Nagata to have one last big run of his career as a kind of “thank you”. New Japan were never gonna put any of their bigger titles on him again and doing this got him into the Grand Slam club, so it made sense from that part. I can’t imagine he holds the belt much longer past May-ish.

I liked the show. Personally I felt Mercedes vs. KAIRI should have gone last since that was the match that literally sold out this show (it was the only one announced when it sold out), but Okada vs. Tanahashi is a safe main event to have at the end. The Fite TV crap sucked and the whole David Finlay heel turn really went over like a wet fart. According to live reports Finlay drew nuclear heat during the entire segment. Sadly the crowd mics really didn't sound like they were balanced well for this show.

The conspiratorial minded part of me wonders if All Japan might have also made this move so to not risk having their world champ in the ring with Nakajima, since it didn't work so well for DDT, and we know these two already have, or had beef.
