You know, the "His feet didn't really touch the ground!" spot? Yeah, the very soles of his feet didn't, but most of the time, every other centimeter of his body does, which really should count as an elimination. It's one of the few things I ever found myself agreeing with the Lapsed Fan Podcast about. Doing it once or twice, or even just every once in a while is fun, but making it an expected thing in the Rumble kind of robs it of anything special, no?

I wouldn't say you were crazy. I mean the pancake spot which I think was only last year was like ''they're scraping the barrel now'' for the spot and I do agree that it'd be more fun if it wasn't ''expected'' so to speak. I think the earlier spots were better but more recently Naomi's were better the last couple of times.
I can see Sol Ruca getting that spot in a Women's Rumble one day though given her athletic ability.

You're not crazy, no, tons of people bitch about it.
"It should be this way, even if it's legal by the rules as written", though, is one of those things that is a thread you should only pull if you want wrestling to come apart at the seams. A ton of this is arbitrary.
I guess with Naomi gone, that's one less person doing it. I don't care about the spots one way or another, since it tends to be filler. I will take four dozen Kofi spots over, "someone takes a long nap outside the ring because we got lazy booking this" spots, though. Even heels doing that can take a few years off, it's been too saturated.

I tend to hate a lot of the additional rules of the Rumble in general;
1. You can't eliminate yourself, therefore you can exit the ring as you please. Except sometimes you *can* eliminate yourself.
2. Your feet can't touch the floor. One can, but not both.
3. If you're thrown out of the ring, your feet can touch anywhere besides the floor, including a stack of pancakes on the floor.
4. You can steal someone's spot.
5. You can be eliminated by someone who isn't in the match.

It's run its course for sure. Also blame Morrison; it's his spot. Not Kofi's spot, liver spot, dog spot.

No, a lot of people have loathed it, for years
And last year he flat out botched it, it's just gotten way old, there's nothing cool about a dude who has done a crazy spot for a decade in the Rumble just to be immediately eliminated and never win the match, which happens every single time he does it
It's been diminishing returns for awhile now.

It got old pretty quickly. Plus some of them just don't make sense if you think about it.

It was cool the first few times that it happened, but now it’s just stupid. Not to mention that if you get the Kofi spot te a dead giveaway that you’re not winning anything.

It was cool when Morrison did it, made sense for his gimmick. Kofi did it and it was "Cool, that thing again!!!" Now, it's just kinda lame. It would be like, if when Jake threw Damien in the ring to get at Andre and then guys for no reason started throwing snakes in to clear the ring. It's really cool the first time, it's ok the second, after that.....meh.

It’s also super lazy booking because you get the same exact format in the women’s rumble too. If Naomi comes back tomorrow she’ll be doing some dumb ole bullshit.

I forgot about it until this post and now I realize we’re getting one tomorrow lol. My bet is, Otis is outside prone and Kofi lands on his stomach or something.

Which is the one I really hated... since at that point why not start arguing your shoes aren't your FEET touching. I don't really mind the fancy barricade hops and stuff... they should go a few years without doing it. So it's less expected. Honestly, the BEST of the spots recently was Austin Theory kipping up and ruining the spot.

There was that one year where Kofi did it like four times or something, and that was where it got a bit much for me, because that level of determination should come with a winning run or at least that kind of final two intrigue where he's the scrappy, won't-give-up babyface in there against a heel who is about to dash everyone's hopes after he came so far. Instead I don't think he even had a notably late eliminiation spot. It was a waste. I dig the spot and I love Kofi, but they overbooked the whole thing by going back to the well too many times, because that's what Vince's style of Rumble booking is. Every trope thrown in both matches every time, no breaks, no wait, no surprises.

I hate that it's become expected. Kofi WILL do a save spot, not CAN Kofi save himself.
And that face that Kofi has never won, and never will win, makes the spot even less exciting.

I've heard it's the same reason that having wrist tape, etc, is legal, but taping your fists in a match for a loaded punch isn't legal. One's your gear, the other is something added after the fact, so it'd be different if Kofi wore pancakes on his feet to the ring. Still a stupid spot, though, in part since the pancakes bit was boring by then. It was cool when Morrison did it, made sense for his gimmick. Kofi did it and it was "Cool, that thing again!!!" It's kind of like how there was that period where everyone was trying to "Skin the Cat" like Shawn, even in non-over the top elimination matches, and it got really old, especially since most of the people doing it took goddamn forever.

EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Kofi should get a big spot in the Rumble still, but it shouldn't be some crazy athletic feat. He should be lured out of the ring by a wrestling hypnotist, then it's never explained or followed up on, or even acknowledged the next show.

Yo, I watched a Rumble the other day and motherf***ing Skinner randomly did the skin the cat move in like the 5 or 6 minutes that he was even in the thing.

The pancake hot lava spot is where I draw the line. Hitting the barricade ala Morrison is cool.
