Split the damn belts and give Sami a title match at Mania.

So great. We go on to Roman-Sami in Montreal, Sami gets screwed by Jey who finally chooses his family over his new 'brother'. Cue heartache, wheels in motion for Usos v Sami/KO at WM and it feels emotionally earned rather than just shunting Sami away from the title match without cause. Bada-bing, bada-boom. All set up from this segment. Lovely stuff. I feel like it would be very lame and regressive for Jey to just side with Roman AGAIN at this point. Eh, we'll see where they go with it. I agree to an extent, but Jey and Sami in particular have brought an emotional nuance to WWE's storytelling that we're not really used to so there's ways they could get there if they keep up this form. I fully expect them to go with Usos v Sami/KO regardless so it was just cool to see seeds within last night's finale of how they might get to that.

I think that segment needed to be as long as it was. Why? For years, the fans have been holding up the 1’s and acting like they were part of the act. That the Bloodline were the good guys. We needed something as painful and as uncomfortable as that to realize that these guys are the bad guys. Sami and Jey weren’t just the ones gaslit. The fans were gaslit too. And for those wondering why Sami didn’t come out on top in that segment, his character isn’t just instantly going to become Stone Cold Steve Austin. He’ll get his, but last night wasn’t the night. That’s what I think makes Roman one of the GOAT heels. He’s like a mob boss and he fits in well with real life bad guys of today

I can't imagine what it's like as a performer to hear the kinds of reactions this segment got. Most wrestlers would kill for the pop that Sami received after hitting Roman with the chair. Most heels would kill to have an entire stadium scream "F*** YOU" at them.

Those Uso superkicks to Owens while he was handcuffed looked so brutal. Like uncomfortable to watch.
Only in wrestling could a guy who was happily brutalizing someone and potentially giving him serious brain injuries be cheered a minute later but that's exactly what happened with Jey.
Jey really is the unsung hero in all of this. From the original Roman/Jey feud in 2020 to his work in the past 6 months. His acting is top quality by wrestling standards. I think the gaslighting gets the best of him one more and he screws over Sami at EC then his full face turn comes at Wrestlemania with him shaking hands with Sami after their match and/or refusing to help Roman in his match. They really need to go back to Roman/Jey post-Wrestlemania. They need another big PPV match and hopefully Jey win before Roman can ever turn face again. The mental abuse he's put him through for 3 years deserves the proper comeuppance.

I thought of the Sopranos too, specifically Adriana getting whacked. It was a similar, unambiguous, brutal reminder of “oh these are really terrible people who you shouldn’t be cheering for at all.”

I kind of wish that it was similar to Hell In A Cell 2020 where Roman Reigns was MORE sadistic, with dropping the steel stairs. Also, it would have been a better story if Sami Zayn was bloodied & stretchered out, to really sell the story, and then Sami Zayn made his triumphant comeback soon. But other than those two very minor issues, I enjoyed how it played out. 9/10 show.

Roman doesn't just feel like a wrestling villain, he feels like a dude that would have whole 🤔 Whys This Dude So Evil Tho 🤔 videos made about him. Basically he's going to hell.

And then the red petals?? Ooohhhh..

Something I also love is that Roman absolutely did not wanna kill Sami deep down to the point where dude almost never looked him in the eyes when he yelled at him (srsly it happens a lot). Roman acted like he was waiting for Sami to give him a reason to end him but it was all insecure bullshit that led to Roman getting the one thing he didn't actually want and being totally heartbroken by it. Roman completely played himself. Roman is probably one of the best wrestle actors like ever, no bullshit lmao I dunno if I'd say best wrestle actors ever... but the best parts of this run have been when Reigns is an insecure psychopath. The original feud with the Usos where he was talking about doing it for his family while you know... MURDERING THE SHIT OUT OF THEM... because he didn't think he could be THE guy anymore.

There's only one guy the fans would unreservedly accept facing Reigns at this Wrestlemania instead of Sami Zayn, and he will never work for WWE again.
That being said, Rhodes and Reigns absolutely have the ability to sell people on an alternative main event match if it's booked right in the coming weeks.

Wasn’t a fan of how long it took for Sami to finally make up his mind and take action. I was starting to think it would take the Bloodline hitting Kevin with a car before Sami would do something. Saving your friend doesn’t mean much if he’s already brain dead because you took too long to do something. Also wasn’t a fan of how regretful Sami seemed after turning. How much did they have to do for Sami to realize that they’re not good people and that he shouldn’t feel bad for turning on them? Bonding with them shouldn’t mean much if they’re not good people. Sort of like getting out of an abusive relationship. He was gaslit into thinking they were his boys. Obviously Jey had love for him, I’m sure Jimmy and Solo actually saw it as a betrayal. Roman was blatantly using him and again it's the same shit as how the Usos got involved in the first place. Roman needed them, not the other way around.

I’m sure Joe the guy behind Roman is a lovely man, but Roman the character is a f***ing asshole you want to see beaten down.

The only way NOT having a Reigns/Sami match at Mania would have worked is if they ordered Sami not to attend the Rumble then killed Owens dead anyways. Let that be the breaking point for Sami and he turns at Mania to help Cody win the belt by distracting the Bloodline and taking them out of the equation.

Here is a cool stat on KO, Seth and Sami
KO turns heel on Sami in 2014 Sami turns heel by saving KO (while KO is on that same heel run) in 2017 Sami remains heel until the Rumble where he turns face by saving KO
Seth turns face by getting betrayed by HHH Leading to KO winning the title in 2016 Seth remains face until 2019 where he turns of a face KO becoming a heel for the next 3 years KO Turns heel in 2021 while in an angle involving Seth Seth and KO become a heel tag team in the beginning of 2022 and on the last show of 2022 they tag up again

The guy keeping his cool is the act but the man who talks to himself and is always paranoid is the true Roman The middle cool act period is one fans will def be the most iffy on but the beginning and the end will be remembered for how he was truly at his best.
