Had Eddie not passed what would have happened? Does anyone know the original plan for the Rumble that Year? I herd it was either going to be Orton or Batista if i remember right. Eddie was supposed to have a Match against HBK at WM 22 (god what a classic that would have been) but was there a chance he would have won the Rumble instead of Rey?
It was obvious that Rey wouldn't have been that pushed if nothing ever happened around that time.

Well, the common story I've heard is that Batista was supposed to drop the World Heavyweight Championship the day Eddie died, then take time off to heal his injury. And Eddie was supposed to turn against Batista and work as a heel against Shawn. So with that info in mind, here's a rough idea of what Survivor Series through Mania would've looked like:
Smackdown November 18, 2005 Eddie Guerrero def. Batista (c) and Randy Orton to win the World Heavyweight Championship
Survivor Series 2005 Team Smackdown def. Team Raw (Eddie replaces Batista, while everyone else in the match remains the same; Eddie gets eliminated by Shawn Michaels)
Armageddon 2005 Eddie Guerrero (c) def. Rey Mysterio to retain (Rey is given the title shot for his wins over Rey earlier in the year, and this replaces the Big Show/Kane program)
Royal Rumble 2006 Batista def. Eddie Guerrero (c) to win the World Heavyweight Championship Randy Orton wins the Royal Rumble match
No Way Out 2006 Batista (c) def. Eddie Guerrero to retain Randy Orton def. Rey Mysterio
WrestleMania 22 Batista (c) def. Randy Orton to retain Eddie Guerrero def. Shawn Michaels (maybe via cheating, so you can run it back later in the year?) Kurt Angle def. The Undertaker (Taker was willing to lose the streak in exchange for a five-star Mania match; Angle can stay heel or go tweener for this) Rey takes Matt Hardy's spot in Money in the Bank
From there, with Eddie's win over Shawn, he can challenge Batista at Judgment Day, then jump to Raw to run back his match with Shawn from Mania, while Orton takes the title off of Batista at SummerSlam, unless you want to keep King Booker's run.

I remember on the Preview Channel ads that used to run over the scrolling text on the lower half of the screen they were advertising Batista defending the belt against Eddie at Survivor Series that year. No idea what was going to happen beyond that.

I would've loved to have seen Eddie and Shawn live at 22. Such a bummer! RIP Eddie!
