This is just gonna drive people back to the high seas due to difficulty to access.

Yep. Netflix is going to learn what a lot of video game companies learned when they started using intrusive DRM: pissing off your legitimate customers with this kind of restrictive shit only makes them pirate to not deal with it.

Can't wait for people who don't have static IP addresses to be locked out of their accounts yet continually charged for them for no f***ing reason.

I feel like this is also a sneaky way to punish VPN users.

The sheer delusion of believing this will result in higher subscriber numbers. Jfc.

You think you're banned for not logging in for a completely arbitrary time. But it's really because you were watching Martin. Replaying any episode where he's in drag as Sheneneh causes your email and watch history to be forwarded to the local district attorney's office for immediate prosecution Netflix just kicks yr door in if there's a SHBOINKBOINK

Netflix going for the bold approach of having f*** all to watch AND making sure people can’t watch it

It’s still way easier just to find whatever you want online. I have Netflix and every once in six months they shit out something worth watching, but I can find all their shows without them.

lol they're going to get SOOOOOOO many cancellations.
People who pay for Netflix out of habit but dont activly use it are going to be locked out and realize they should just cancel.
Parents paying for their multiple kids away at college and shit but dont or rarely use it themselves? Cancelling.
Truckers? Other people who travel? People who mostly use it on mobile?
Yeah this is one of the most out of touch corporate garbage Ive seen.

My guess is they'll see a negligible rise in subscribers for about a week and then about two or three straight months of a crushing wave of cancellations until they reverse course and pretend none of this ever happened.
Also their support center is abso-f***ing-lutely going to be completely overwhelmed by having to constantly unlock people's accounts. Like all day, all night, endlessly, forever.

The travel thing is a pretty hard pass for probably... most people who use Netflix. Personally, if I've been driving all day on a trip or stuck in an airport with a 3 hour layover, the very last thing I want to do is mess around with temporary codes or wonder if the service will work at all because I didn't check in often enough. App is supposed to work for me, not the other way around.

Netflix going for the bold approach of having f*** all to watch AND making sure people can’t watch it Seriously tho, like I thought about it for a minute and it hit me that HBO Max and Amazon Prime are both kinda beating the f*** out of Netflix when it comes to having shit I actually wanna watch presently

Well I sure look forward to playing tech support with my parents when they call me about their Netflix not working. Actually, my dad is far more likely to just cancel it if it doesn't just work. And this is their genius plan to keep people from unsubscribing.

This password sharing is eating our profits thing is bullshit.
Netflix has a multi-tier payment system. The higher the tier the more screens you can watch at the same time you get. So if I’m paying for two screens and I'm only gonna use one, why can’t I let a friend or family member who lives across town who is a bit tight for cash use it? I'm paying for it after all.
And the thing is if you want to watch Netflix in the best image quality, you have to pony up for the more expensive multi-screen tiers to access 4K/UHD even if you don't need all those screens. So there are probably lots of people paying for multi-screen plans who don't need them.
This is like if say you decide to take the family out to McDonald's (for example you, and a partner and two kids). You decide to get one of those big meal deal packs (the ones that come with two big burgers, two cheeseburgers, four drinks and a lot of fries, and maybe some desserts like four ice cream Sundays or something)...
Ok you get that meal and once your done, there is a cheeseburger left over (one of the kids wanted nuggets but it was not part of the pack is you got them separately from the meal pack). You think ‘oh there's a cheeseburger left over, anyone want it?”. The family are full so they say no.. OK so as your leaving you see a friend enter the restaurant say “hey man, you want a cheeseburger? We're not gonna eat it” and he happily accepts it... Now what if the manager of that McD’s sees this and steps and says “hey you can’t do that!” grabs the cheeseburger out the dudes hands and throws it on the trash...
This is what Netflix are doing here.
