Watching MJF’s promo in the ring last night I had the thought I could never take my young daughter to an AEW show because I’d knowingly be exposing her to a non kid friendly project.
Id feel more comfortable with the WWE product when she is older, but have some hesitation there too.
Doesn’t mean it’s not a good product. I love Succession on HBO, and I’m not letting her watch that either.
But I think is interesting for the future growth of their product and I was wondering what other parents thought?

If I'm I having kids with my current GF that's a no especially with the blood and swearing. I'd probably let them watch New Generation WWF before current day WWE.

Our kid watches. He's 6 and knows not to repeat bad words and he asked once about the bleeding and then went about his day. He's a good kid. Loves Orange Cassidy and the Lucha Bros.

I think I'd let my kid watch but my wife does not approve because of the blood and swearing. Someone started bleeding one match and my son asked "Is he going to die?" and that was the end of that. He also is in bed by 8 so most of what he has seen are NXT and WWE PPVs. Sprinkling of New Japan and classic stuff.

I do not have kids, but I have a ton of nieces. It'd really depend on the kid. Some kids have an easier time with these things than others.

They probably watch worse things on the internet daily
Anyways, the show is TV-14 for a reason.

Sometimes it can be weird what scares a kid too My son watched Jurassic Park, LOVED IT. We tried to watch Raya and the Last Dragon and there is a part where characters get turned to stone and he freaked the hell out.

Kids are going to hear bad language and see bad things and I'd rather they did it with me so I can explain things and make sure they're okay with it. Wrestling is one of the better environments for it because you have such clear-cut good guys and bad guys and everyone is encouraged to play along with hating the bad guys.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to show it to him, but if he demonstrated an interest, then sure. I watched the height of the Attitude Era when I was 8-9, and it was fine.
Seeing Jon Moxley bleed isn’t really any different or worse than running around shooting people in Fortnite. I have faith in my kid to be able to separate reality from fiction. I’m not really the sheltering type personally. I think that tends to be more damaging than just exposing kids to things they’re going to see anyway, but in a controlled environment and with my supervision.

I mean I started watching wrestling during the Hogan era in WWF
I realize that was a long time ago and the product was much more family friendly back then opposed to AEW
if I had kids it would depend on them if I let them watch with me

I don’t know, man lol.
That’s a tough question and I think it comes down to the particular kid and the relationship you would have with them. I don’t have kids, so can’t really say.
I know I’ve shared the anecdote before of meeting two different sets of parents out in the wild who weren’t copacetic with their kid(s) watching AEW.

With theoretical kids (since I don't have any), it depends a lot on their emotional maturity. But AEW is a TV-14 rated product for a reason. It's meant for an older audience.
I personally didn't get into wrestling until I was 13-14 years old, and my parents generally trusted my own instincts on what I could or couldn't handle. Like I played Doom and watched South Park when I was 11-12 years old. But I also saw the heart ripping scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom when I was 8 and that traumatized me.

I'm not a parent (though I am an uncle) but I totally would. I grew up with a mom who let me do shit like play Mortal Kombat and, while I didn't develop a taste for it until later, watch South Park (and for that matter Raw during the Attitude Era) so I see no harm in it.

Easy to say when not a parent but to me I'd be far more uncomfortable with my relatives watching promotions where the overiding message is the most evil guy always wins and faces are idiots rather than any "mature" content. Even with MJF as champ I don't think that's the case in aew.
Well to a point, of the promotions I'm familiar with I'd only outright ban GCW (and other deathmatch promotions) and DDT for "mature" content.
Would also ban NWA because, well, no kid needs to see that.

No my children are not allowed to watch the AEW product.
WWE for the most part is pretty benign to today's 9 year olds and the girls have a whole slew of female action figures, dolls, dress up accessories etc...
With the way the current AEW product is (blood and guts quite literally) they will never get that from AEW. They are fine watching WWE slapstick until they can handle the more outright violence and adult themes as they age.

Speaking of my girls I recently posted something wrestling related regarding them to twitter. Crazy how fast they grow.

If I had young kids (say under 10) I probably wouldn't let them watch live but I'd wait until the next day and let them watch specific matches/clips on Youtube. That way I can avoid the real bloody ones or any overly profanity-laden promos that would be hard to avoid if you were watching live.
It would probably be hypocritical and overly-protective of me though because when I was that age I watched the attitude era, violent/horror movies, shows with a bunch of cursing etc and would have been annoyed if my parents tried to stop me.
