Funny enough, this is the only one of the trilogy I've actually seen. I watched it in high school with friends and we laughed our asses off.

And 2 completely different endings depending where you lived in the world okay big question THEATRICAL ENDING or ALTERNATE ENDING both have their merits, the theatrical quaintly wraps the whole series up the alternate gives our block headed hero another merry-go-round with those devilish deadites ... in bloody las vegas!!! ![8-|](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/nerd.png) c'mon that was las vegas he slept too, in the future because block head and the fourth drop! i prefer the alternate one myself ... and that turned into ash v the evil dead series didn't it ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

It was my introduction to the series and I like it better than "Evil Dead II", which connects to "Army of Darkness". But I like it less than the original or at least I find the climax too unremarkable. The effects are on the cheaper side, but lack a bit of that charming ingenuity. Still: A very important gateway horror movie and as such much appreciated!

It probably fitted the movie series better, but the alternative up beat S Mart ending fitted the movie itself.

And it took Sam Raimi 25 years to get his closure
