He never had a world title run as a face at all his whole entire WWE run. There were times Raw or Smackdown was missing a good babyface champion due to injuries. Could Chris Jericho have a chance to shine as a babyface world champion any time between 2000 and 2017?

Had you asked me back then, I would say 100%. Now, years on, I feel like Jericho is a tool IRL, so I think heel Jericho was a better choice as champion.

Coming back in 2007 and losing to Orton was dumb and left him floundering until he turned into SRS Jericho.
He could've had a small babyface champ run there.

Absolutely. He could have been made at some point in 2000/2001 but they never pulled the trigger and it took him years to get back on the right course when he finally turned face again a few years later.

Between 2000-2017, sure but would been earlier than later
While he could still pop the crowd later in his run but they were def getting tired of him. If you were going to do a face run it would been much earlier like when he came back vs Orton or when he beat HHH (the infamous reversal)

Remember that episode of Raw where he won the title from Triple H and then it was overturned later in the same show? That was amazing. I would have loved to have seen that title reign stick, even if it was only for a couple of weeks.

It's hard to justify him as a face being world champion in the Attitude Era. As a face, he was almost always behind Austin and Rock.

They f***ed that up so badly by bringing him back as Y2J again. Just didn’t work, and I remember being so pumped for the Save.us.222 stuff because I’m a huge Jericho mark but the return was weak

We could have had a nice little run when he won the title on RAW against Triple H and he could have gone to Backlash as Champion and still have Triple H vs Rock but make it a Triple Threat Match or add Chris Beniot and have it be a one fall Fatal 4 Way and then have Rock pin Triple H with Austin showing up which would make it that Jericho wasn't the one to get pinned to lose the Championship.

What if they switched up Benoit and Jericho’s roles. Benoit beats Stone cold and the rock to become the first undisputed champion and Jericho wins the world title at mania 20 making HHH tap and celebrates with Eddie. Jericho was also friends with Eddie so that ending would work

Does that few weeks as WCW Champion during The Invasion before Survivor Series count?
OK, he was more tweener then, but still.

He did always have a lot of stiff competition around him. So could have been bad timing but you’d think it could have happened at some point. Remember that episode of Raw where he won the title from Triple H and then it was overturned later in the same show? That was amazing. I would have loved to have seen that title reign stick, even if it was only for a couple of weeks. Imagine if that happened these days with a different superstar. I don’t think the crowd would let up until the person won the title for real. That reaction/moment was crazy.

It's hard to justify him as a face being world champion in the Attitude Era. As a face, he was almost always behind Austin and Rock. Are you kidding? When Austin was gone, Jericho was EASILY the second biggest babyface next to the Rock, and arguably got some of the biggest pops of all time. You could easily swap Rock out for Jericho at KotR giving him the title until he loses it to Angle.

I still remember the pop he got when he "beat" HHH on that Raw with the Hebner fast count. They could've given him a quick run during the Attitude era.

I was so annoyed when Jericho seemed to turn heel the moment he won the top title. I really wanted face world champion Jericho and it's nuts that it took so long after the infamous reversal for him to win it.

I would have loved to have seen that title reign stick, even if it was only for a couple of weeks. By the time they got back to the feud for Fully Loaded, the belt had swapped back and forth between HHH and The Rock a couple of times, so it's not like there was a defining reign that would be derailed. Have HHH retain at King of the Ring, Jericho feud restarts, Chris goes over, which he should have done anyway (I'll always argue Fully Loaded was a precursor to the end of the Attitude era, the booking put a firm ceiling on the newer talent). Jericho goes into Summerslam as champion, have a 3 way, even a 4 way and life goes on.

The win over HHH was the only time I could have accepted it as a face...I can't really think of any other memorable face Jericho runs honestly
