I think Hobbs should beat Wardlow for the belt and give Wardlow an opportunity to rebuild himself. They totally did him dirty with his booking from the MJF match onward, he should've been a star. He is talented though and I don't think it's too late to get him back up to speed

They really screwed up his first title reign, guys like Wardlow are the easiest to book as Champion.

I think there's still plenty of time to get his momentum back, but as people said here, quite a few things compounded on him losing a lot of momentum as it stands right now
But he's talented enough to get it back imo, and I really thought he got some of it back in this Joe feud. The promo he cut about his dad was fantastic.

MJF basically urinating on Wardlow's win hurt a bit, but he was still over after that. What derailed Wardlow from there was bad booking. Wasn't his first TNT title defense against Orange Cassidy? Like why the hell would they book that when they are trying to push Wardlow as a face? Then this Joe tag team/feud dragged on and never really hit the next gear. I could definitely see the crowd rallying behind Hobbs on Wednesday. That's another issue. If the end game was Hobbs winning the TNT title then they had the absolute best fall guy for that in Darby, who makes every hoss look like a killer. Instead they hot shot the title and now either Hobbs has to lose when he's built up momentum, or Wardlow (who needs something to fix his character badly) has to lose the title he just won after 3 days.

I do love Wardlow still myself but his match really was the most meh to me. Perfectly fine but was missing something. I know people were still tired after the war that came before but just felt like the weakest match on the card overall. Really hope for a bit of an overhaul on the character

I do think he needs another gear in those matches. Seems like he can go so far but he needs to find that next gear to find his potential. I think he has a ton of potential but needs a lot more seasoning.

It feels like a very consistent throughline in AEW's pet projects, they're super impressive then they get a bigger spotlight and turn out to have some pretty massive shortcomings. Wardlow, MJF, Jungle Boy, Guevara, Jade, Britt... It's not constant but it is persistent.

I'd argue Jungle Boy is finding that edge with that match with Christian being a stand out but everyone else you've listed do have their own unique issues. Whether it's MJF unable to wrap his around the fact kayfabe is dead or Britt's penchant to bury the roster and really only putting herself over.

It was all downhill when he cut his hair. Now the guy is dressing like King Kong bundy For real, it's crazy how the short haircut just took away so much from him. He might as well have a manager called Delilah b/c that's what it feels like, lol

while Wardlow still has some overness, it's quite clear he's lost a lot of momentum. Some of that is booking, some is on MJF, and some is on others just being more interesting.

I'm convinced there's legit resentment between Wardlow and MJF, because Wardlow should have been AEW's Batista and instead he's... not.

I know I'm not gonna be popular for saying this, but I always thought having a 40-something year old Samoa Joe, with more then a decade of injuries and bad booking on him, over Wardlow for the TNT Title was a huge mistake. It just completely killed Wardlow's monster aura.

I think he’s toast for now, tbh. Have Hobbs beat him and then go back to the drawing board.

Having Wardlow defeat Joe soundly ( not squashing him ) would of done wonders for Wardlow and wouldn't have hurt Joe any, imo.

There's a standalone thread about this but Wardlow just had his rental car vandalized and all of his gear and TNT Title stolen by some thief
What timing for this thread, jesus lol

Nothing to do with the guy himself - uh, with one exception - but I feel like AEW is giving me little reason to give a f*** about our boy Wardog I never really thought he was that interesting anyway, except as MJF's goon boy. His single greatest moment to me was turning babyface during the Punk match, which was great, I will admit, but literally anybody could have done it. He's had some fine matches, sure. But I just don't give a shit about him at all He's cut his hair, which I didn't care about at all, but has managed to make him even less interesting I still haven't got over his 'people on the internet say I'm cooling off, f*** you' promo, which was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen, Wardlow, those are YOUR FANS talking about you being misused What has he had since then? Guy who squashes people, but is not as charismatic as Goldberg, physically? I thought he looked like the least interesting wrestler on the entire roster showing up at the PPV at the weekend, and I can't deny that he is really over and should keep being used for something, but like. Who is Wardlow? What does he want? Anything? Also and this is a pet peeve of mine only why the f*** are they getting Wardlow to tap out Joe??? This entire show had submission experts losing to submissions. The other two I didn't mind, but this one??? Doesn’t give you the right to vandalize his car man! I kid I kid!

I think Joe getting a monster aura back was important too, he had shit to prove and he proved it, dude's on one of his best runs in a long time Wardlow did beat him pretty soundly in the end on the PPV, but Joe's had two really good TNT title wins, and I think he has a lot left in the tank and he's proved it
