I think Joe getting a monster aura back was important too, he had shit to prove and he proved it, dude's on one of his best runs in a long time Wardlow did beat him pretty soundly in the end on the PPV, but Joe's had two really good TNT title wins, and I think he has a lot left in the tank and he's proved it This is true but Joe is a made man. Personally I think Wardlow's momentum was more important It's hard to really say, because you also have a ton of people who thought Joe and Darby's runs really helped reinvigorate the TNT Title itself, when Wardlow got it, people were down on it Now he's beat Joe, exorcised a demon in a way, and has a much hotter belt he could make a convincing run with, if he doesn't lose it to Hobbs anyways

Nothing to do with the guy himself - uh, with one exception - but I feel like AEW is giving me little reason to give a f*** about our boy Wardog I never really thought he was that interesting anyway, except as MJF's goon boy. His single greatest moment to me was turning babyface during the Punk match, which was great, I will admit, but literally anybody could have done it. He's had some fine matches, sure. But I just don't give a shit about him at all He's cut his hair, which I didn't care about at all, but has managed to make him even less interesting I still haven't got over his 'people on the internet say I'm cooling off, f*** you' promo, which was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen, Wardlow, those are YOUR FANS talking about you being misused What has he had since then? Guy who squashes people, but is not as charismatic as Goldberg, physically? I thought he looked like the least interesting wrestler on the entire roster showing up at the PPV at the weekend, and I can't deny that he is really over and should keep being used for something, but like. Who is Wardlow? What does he want? Anything? Also and this is a pet peeve of mine only why the f*** are they getting Wardlow to tap out Joe??? This entire show had submission experts losing to submissions. The other two I didn't mind, but this one??? Doesn’t give you the right to vandalize his car man! I kid I kid! Oh yeah? Well would a car thief... do this? *sounds of me panting hard trying to run away, falling to the ground, crying*

Everything with his split from MJF and the subsequent massacre was terrific.
The problem is that Tony hadn't figured out the answer to the most important question; "......And then what?"

Personally I think Wardlow's momentum was more important I honestly think the momentum Wardlow lost from the fall meant they had to change things up a bit. There's plenty of blame to go around, bad booking, bad timing, Wardlow himself just getting stagnant, ect so I think losing the belt was important to just give Wardlow a reset. I just think in that time others caught fire again. I almost think Wardlow's best interest would be dropping the belt quickly and then doing a tour of Japan.

It was all downhill when he cut his hair. Now the guy is dressing like King Kong bundy Yeah, he needs to wear the Wrath singlet, not the King Kong Bundy singlet. That did...not work.

Damned if they do, Damned if they don't tonight.
Hobbs wins, Wardlow looks like a schmuck losing after three days.

On the heel side, who can realistically re-elevate Wardlow? Jericho? Christian? Swerve? Anyone else?

He needs a name change:
Woldraw - That's Wardlow spelled backwards!

Damned if they do, Damned if they don't tonight. Hobbs wins, Wardlow looks like a schmuck losing after three days. Wardlow wins, Hobbs looks like a choke artist after the promos and vignettes I did think this, Wardlow having only won the belt a few days ago makes me think he is winning because AEW doesn't usually hot potato the belts like that. But it seems like Hobbs has built up a lot of momentum lately, I don't think people want to see him lose. It seems like they've booked themselves into a corner needlessly but I'll wait and see, I'm looking forward to the match. I always viewed the NEVER Openweight belt as a 'mean guy' belt in New Japan and it'd be cool for the TNT belt to become AEW's equivalent with the likes of Joe, Hobbs and Wardlow fighting over it.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I don't give a shit about him but he's completely lost momentum. I have no idea why they took the TNT title off him in the first place. He could have held it all this time and then dropped to Hobbs this week. Neither Joe nor Darby needed it. At the peak of the feud with MJF he seemed like a huge star in the making and now he's just another guy. he was injured

Honestly, it would actually help Wardlow to get absolutely bodied by Hobbs tonight.
This is his Clubber Lang moment. He just overcame his big opponent in Joe. He avenged his ponytail's removal. He's THE TNT champion. He should be staring down with Hobbs. He should reminding Hobbs that he mauled everyone until Joe and now he's removed Joe from his path. He's the dude who bodied MJF before MJF won the world title. There is absolutely no way he is on a path to lose that title only three days after such success. He's meant for so much more.
And Hobbs should smile and murder him so daggone hard that Wardlow has to go into hiding.
We have to see Wardlow training. We have to see Wardlow seeking help. All the while, Hobbs is bodying anyone who challenges him.
And then we have to have him come back and fight Hobbs again, Rocky III style...Admittedly, I would then have Hobbs body him again, but I'm incredibly biased in this situation. Hobbs is awesome.
...
Yep, you read that entire post. That's on you.

Feels very safe to say Wardlow's retaining to me but I'd really rather he didn't.
That said win or lose I have no idea what there is for him to do of interest after this. Only notable heels I can really think of he has to face after Hobbs are MJF which would feel very abrupt and only really serve to undercut Wardlow further right now, Swerve which he shouldn't be winning, and Jericho who's kind of lost enough lately that I don't think Wardlow would actually gain much from beating him plus no one really seems to benefit much from being in Jericho's everything-takes-a-decade orbit anyway. Maybe could have some run-ins with the House of Black for a bit I guess but with them being the Trios champs I don't really know that you could make a big thing out of it.

'I want there to be no disqualifications and falls count anywhere in this match where I'll be defending the title I just won, there's no way this could backfire on me.' Wardlow, you played yourself.

I don't care about Wardlow anymore either which is sad. He used to be one of my favorites in AEW.
