twitter.com/JohnCena/status/1633114554107346946?s=20The above tweet he seems to be teasing it. If he loses to Theory, I don’t see him coming back. Ideally, he’d win #17 at the Royal rumble and drop it to Cody at Mania 40 (20 years after his first mania match).

I think he’s got one more mania after this one.

That Hollywood Money probably is telling his body, much like The Rocks, that he doesn't need to do this shit much longer
I don't think he's done just yet, they're probably going to want to give him a big match to go out on, and that'd probably be next years Mania

Wrestlemania 40 would be a cool way to go out 20 years after his first Mania match at Mania 20.
That match was for the US Title btw so 19 years later he’s fighting for it again which is pretty cool I think.

Cody Rhodes is the perfect final opponent for him but I hope we get one more match with Edge.

Still wish he'd won the IC title before he hangs things up.

I want Cena to win Number 17 before he retires.

Barring major injury, Cena will have at least one match in the 2030s.
That's just the way wrestling is. Cena is 45, The Rock is 50 and will have at least one more. And that's before you get into the likes of Austin, HBK, Taker etc.
Ultimately the money is great, the fans adore him. Turning up for a match every now and then is some of the easiest money he'll make.

Cena retiring after wrestling Theory would be like Hogan retiring after wrestling Alex Riley. What a waste.

I think he's got one more in him after this Mania and after the other night, I think it'd be cool if it was Cody. I'd prefer it if we FINALLY got Edge/Cena at a Mania after all these years, but Cena/Cody seems to make sense.
I guess you never say never because dude's Hollywood career could somehow tank, but I think Cena's going to wind up in Rock territory where insurance companies won't let him wrestle. If you're a Cena fan, I'd enjoy this year.

I don't think Cena will ever financially need to wrestle again given his success in movies/tv/commercials, but seems like the kind of person who would do it until he absolutely couldn't anymore out of his own personal loyalties to the company and fans (though I think, if anything, the company owes him way more). But like The Rock, the schedule he keeps and the commitments around his health and availability are going to force him to slow down or stop, and I think he's probably (also like Rock) learning that Hollywood physical shape is very different from his wrestling shape, even for someone as committed as him.
Theory feels so, so beneath him given that he's on a pitch count now, but if this what Cena actually wants, he's earned the right to use his remaining spots any way he chooses, in my opinion. I'd much rather see him vs. Solo or Gunther, or if they'd planned ahead, do Cena vs. Cody this year as the torch-passing moment so you could have done Sami or Jey toppling Roman.
As for the future, if he's only got one more big main event in him, it's kind of fascinating how many unresolved stories he could have left for next year for WM40: -Winning #17 -Winning the IC title, the only real belt to elude him -Finally, after being stopped so many times in years past: declaring himself as entering the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal (my choice, of course)

Trick question - nobody really ever retires in wrestling

Cena retiring after wrestling Theory would be like Hogan retiring after wrestling Alex Riley. What a waste. Hogan’s last match was a 6 man tag where his opponents were Mr Anderson, D-Von Dudley and goddamn Luke Gallows. Say what you will about Hogan but even he deserved better than to face one of the f***ing Good Brothers in his last hurrah.

Man, that's sad to think he'll be gone for good sooner rather than later. I think 40 will be his swan song.
Now, against whom is a good question. Maybe Randy if he's ready by then. If not, Jay White if he signs with WWE?

Wrestlemania 40 seems like a good choice maybe. As already mentioned 20 years on from his first Wrestlemania match.
If they give him a shitty midcard Angle/Corbin like farewell match when the time comes it'll be a travesty. He should main event one of the nights in a big match. Ideally if he has the time in his schedule he wins #17 beforehand then drops it in a title v career match. If it's just a one-off match then maybe a big face v face match with Cody.

If Theory is ready by then, he can take an L this year, Cena wins #17 at the rumble and he can lose the wwe or universal title to Theory at the main event of one of the nights. If he doesn’t have time to win a title then I think Cody, Drew, maybe LA knight would be the move or if Orton is also gonna retire do a double retirement match (if possible)

If MJF ever comes to WWE, he has to work with Cena at least once.

If MJF ever comes to WWE, he has to work with Cena at least once. Shoot, talk about two characters perfect for each other. Even if Cena was still a main event Raw fixture and getting those mixed reactions, Max is so self-loathing and admitting he’s “a devil” that John can just go “well, look at *you*, dude!”
