Is it true that Mr. Metakure lost his fight with cancer? I keep hearing conflicting reports on that I loved his takedown essays on Channel Awesome years back He also got progressively more and more transphobic to the point where his channel got banned. |

In fairness RE: James Rolfe, his controversy mostly had to do with the Screen Wave guys latching onto him. James himself is still going strong to the point that people that do try to get angry at him can't find any dirt on him besides the fact that he's...balding? I agree. There's some vicious comments about him online, but I genuinely cannot understand why he's so hated. I see people giving him total hell for balding or not having enough time for the things they want because he devotes that time to his family. I guess I'm old fashioned, but to me, that makes him more likable. The worst comments have to do with him being in special ed or the difficulties his daughter had. The dude's biggest controversy was the Ghostbusters thing, and that was absolutely overblown. I'm not even a big AVGN fan, but when comparing him to other YouTubers, he's harmless. Arin Hanson is someone I can't believe hasn't fallen into the disgraced category. It seems like he's done some awful shit and became an awful person, but that fanbase is still firmly behind him. |

Yeah, it was the 1 2 of being more and more transphobic around the same time YouTube was trying to clean up on the "reaction" type commentary channels being full of edgy shitlords, and then using early covid as an excuse to be super racist. |

Built his career off saying the N word. That's... just... factually untrue. Some of his early cartoons occasionally had some questionable content when he was fresh out of teenagehood at a time when it was more commonly accepted, that's the worst that can be said about him. To say he "built a carreer" out of racist material is just utterly dishonest. He has clearly never been racist and these days is very careful about being respectful of all people. Unless there's been some stuff that he did recently that I'm out of the loop on, I really don't get why people want to hate him so bad. |

This doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the topic at hand, but why does YouTube keep suggesting new videos about Steven Seagal's downfall to me for MONTHS now? I understand that Seagal is a terrible laughing stock, but the downright obsession some channels have with STEVEN SEAGAL, of all people, seems disgusting itself. The lolcow-ification of celebrities is not new, but it is more noticeable.

I think because lots of smart, funny people have already covered him in depth in podcast form so they can steal a lot of material younger folk who don't do podcasts haven't heard. Lots of stuff to laugh at, lots of things to recoil in horror from and they only need to spend a few days rewriting some else's script. |

Are the podcasts a recent thing as well? But it would explain why the coverage feels so inflated, because breaking down hour long work into bite sized videos makes you look like your whole life is centered around "lol" Seagal" when you actually just recycle a handful of sources that cost you little time(?).

The deep dives have come out in the past few years, after people came forward to talk about his sexual assaults, his palling around with Putin and his ties to organised crime. There seems to be a steady stream of actresses revealing his treatment of them, so his name and behaviour keeps getting brought back into the public eye.

Man the iiluminaughtii story keeps getting weirder.
Apparently there was some pedo in her patron discord community and the guy who called attention to this, she kicked him out, blocked him, and now threatening legal action on him. All because she thought he was a troll first and now that it’s public, she thinks he set up sending some kids to bait them.
