All it took was Dominik saying the same stuff he's been saying for months!
Put LA Knight in the Hall of Fame where he belongs.

I was kinda dozing in and out during parts of Smackdown and that nonstop pan back and forth between Rey slowly walking towards and then up the ramp, and Dom standing at the top, glowering, holding his head, felt like a never ending hallucination

You know, this may be a weird comparison, and I admit I wasn't watching at the time it happened:
But Rey finally hitting Dominik sort of reminds me of when Virgil finally hit Ted DiBiase and broke away from him.
A moment that built for a while (not a year like was said in the Smackdown thread, only since Clash at the Castle in September), one you had a good feeling was going to happen, and then a big pop when it finally does.
The only difference is Rey's legacy is cemented already, while Virgil got a push but it didn't go as far as originally planned.

It probably took everything for Angie Mysterio to not start smacking Dominik around herself given how much he was sassing her. Hell, she probably would’ve started whupping Rey if he didn’t do anything.

Hell, she probably would’ve started whupping Rey if he didn’t do anything. Well, Angie didn't want to kill him even if she was mad. I mean the lady had the courage to slap Rhea Ripley, and Rhea's a tougher target.

Riley was getting huge pops for a year after that which, if anything, showed how good The Miz is.

Noooo. I wanted the Mysterio holiday hijinks to go on for years to come.
Suppose they still might but it's less likely after a match.

Something that was great about it was Dom's reaction. He was terrified after Rey hit him. He's been talking all this shit because he knew that Rey wouldn't hit him, but Rey finally responded, and Dom being fake tough never wanted that. It was in that moment that he knew he f***ed up.

This is the first time anyone's ever seen a dad punch his kid and scream "this is all your fault" and cheered on the dad.

They've gotten multiple mega crowd reactions due to big payoff moments in long-term stories the last few weeks. Rey punching Dom last night. KO and Sami hugging last week. Edge challenging Finn to a hell in a cell match. Jey turning on Sami. And a few weeks before those you had Sami hitting Roman with the chair.
Was there anything like this in the build to Mania last year? As I recall the two most exciting things fans were invested in were waiting on guys to show up who weren't even part of the build in Cody and Austin.

I loved that Dom getting in Angie's face was what finally set Rey off. Rey was down to take endless abuse from Dom no matter how painful it'd be but seeing Aliyah and Angie having to deal with it too after Dom had already f***ed him over hit him with the reality that he had no choice but to fight him if he wanted to protect the rest of the family. Wife guy to the core.
Vin Diesel helped me write this and he's in tears.

I still love that Rey has kept that original tweet up. hahah you'd think after all these years of it still being his most quoted tweet he'd have rethought it at least ONCE
